Kids bike being sent from the UK
I'm having a friend from London package my son a self build bike and sending it over to me in California. Is there a limit to the value where I would not have to pay any taxes/duty on it? It's a gift as I helped him out some time ago here with accommodation. The company who sells the parts is shipping it to him and then he is shipping it onto me.

check out borderbuddy.com, that should give you an idea of the cost. The shipper should be able to tell you. Don't forget the "State" may come after sales tax on a $1043 bike.
