Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I would get it. Not to be rude or something but North Korea isn't exactly an open and easy to deal with country.

But Korea has not existed as a country since 1950. So yes, they asked for specificity. If their customer service is out of China, which can ship to either country easily, it seems a reasonable question.

I don't understand your problem. Agent simply asked which Korea. What is wrong with that?

I guess I just don't understand your question. I totally get their question: you want to send it to one of the Koreas, but don't specify which. Seems like a pertinent question on their part for the service you're requesting. Or am I missing something?

There is a sanction against shipping luxury goods to North Korea, that is the issue you need to clarify.

Perhaps S. Koreans do not recognize the existence of any other Korea. It could be a semantic/pride thing. Not my problem.

Does a Fuji qualify?

Anyway, I'd think it's better for them to ask than assume. Good customer service involves not making assumptions that could result in a customer feeling mislead.

Are you asking if you should be offended that the rep asked you to clarify which Korea? If so, LOL, get over it. I'm not Korean, but I can't see any way this can be taken with any offense. You even state yourself in the first post "Korea". Now, we can normally assume it's South Korea, but dude, there ARE two Korea's, and it makes a huge difference for Performance.

There are only two places (The 8 and The 250) on BF that can be worse than the 41. I think this one has the potential for a lock or being demoted to The 250.

If they assumed you meant South Korea and said they could then found out that you wanted it shipped to North Korea, they wouldn't be able to ship it. You and your cousin Kim Jong-Un would be pissed. The Performance rep doesn't want to be fed to the dogs.

I know. The bike had Di2 and Performance can't export technology. They can launch missiles remotely with Di2

Does the US DOD know about this. Add that to an asploding carbon frame and you really have the makings of an international incident.

Honestly, we had a customer that asked if we shipped to "the Middle East". When pressed for specifically where, we eventually determined he was trying to get embargoed product shipped to Iran. It seems to me that the customer service person did their job in this case.

It's nice that Performance has csr's that are aware of the geopolitical situation concerning the two Koreas. Your assumptions are ill conceived.

I would feel like the rep is doing a good job and just trying to figure out what county you want it shipped to.

This thread has got to be a joke right? Can't be serious.

There is nothing wrong with their reply. Just because you know there's a sanction doesn't mean that they do. People have better things to deal with then having to know all the global events.

maybe he/she would have known if an address was given and when they punch it into their system, they would realize that North Korea wasn't available.

heck a small % of your population doesn't even know your own president.
