Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

thanks. That's what I'm going to do, with 10% off the 500, and the Vector. Plus I like supporting DC Rainmaker.

It's mostly for pacing intervals and time trials. So all she really needs is 3 second power, lap power, and cadence.

Me too! His reviews are more informative and in-depth than all other "reviews" combined.

They are among the worst, but if no one reports the issue, they will not know it exists and it will never be fixed.

Yep, reported. And left a review in the app store too. The new app is quite nice and I commend them for their efforts. They'll get it resolved eventually. Until then, I'll just ride my bike to my mistress' house. lol.

I've got an 810 and it occasionally shows insane speeds for my rides. Yesterday I averaged 97 mph(!) for 19.8 miles - yeah right I can't figure out why it does this and I find this Garmin to be "less than user friendly".

Are you using a speed/cadence sensor?

In Training Peaks, you can look at the data line by line in a spreadhseet format, and edit out, or correct, the obviously erroneous data points.

Not sure how you do that with other programs.

I believe there's a website or a program that will go through the data for you and correct the issues.

I'm not sure what the issue could be, I was going to guess that without a sensor, the gps wasn't picking up your movement correctly, causing jumps in the data. I've had mine give me faulty data before, but it was due to the magnet spinning on my spoke, causing it to be slightly away from the sensor which gave me a lower than normal speed.

Do you have a link to the garmin connect page for that ride, it'd be quite interesting to look at the data? I'd be curious to look at time and distance and see if those are accurate or if they also reflect the 97mph speed avg.

I just tried ordering the 500 with DCR's 10% discount... it won't allow further reduction on the current discounted price.

Completely dead or dead battery? I'm hoping I don't encounter this problem anytime soon, but I can't wait to collect all those KOM's going 97mph!

I got the discount on Vector, and the Garmin 500.

Perhaps you need to click through the DCRainmaker site to make it work.

Also, when you buy the Vector pedal's they sell the crow foot adapter for a torque wrench (needed to properly install the pedals) for $1.00, which saves $17 over the Amazon price.
