im actually of a different opinion than all of the previous .GIFs.
I honestly believe it CAN be safe if you take a few precautions.
1. Use loc-tite. The strongest kind they sell (red i think it is?)
2. put a lockring on it! even though it wont be reverse threaded its still nice to have! again-- use loc-tite
3. dont push a racing gear. push something reasonable. maybe 70 GI.
Its smart to ride with a brake because no matter what it's risky to ride with a suicide hub, but ive never had an issue with mine on any of my conversions. For my track bike however-- I'd never consider it. When you hit 30+ mph for s*its and giggles, you could easily create enough friction to undo the cog.

Your cog is slipping.
FWIW - my rain bike has a suicide hub and is brakeless. I'm using a BB lockring and check it all the time - it's never loosened up. Gearing is 44/18.

Fresh Garbage
I did it a while back when I stripped my lockring threads. Rotafixed the hell out of the cog, even though I have two brakes, and it didn't loosen after my attempts to really put a lot of backwards force. so... I'm on the fence

Yeah, it can be done, why though? Too cheap for a $2 lockring? Might work just fine tooling around, but will you trust your life to it when you get into an emergency situation and toque the hell out of it.
