Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

^^^ FYI, the Attack/Force sets are on sale at Ribble for about $75 for the pair, if you're looking for extra stock.

I measured it today. You were very close. 14cm of drop. It's not that I am super flexible. I am pretty flexible, but I have a short torso, and long arms, and legs. Thanks for the compliment. I enjoy that bike a lot.

Thanks. I usually just get whatever's on sale when the time comes. They certainly aren't the most durable tire, but they are sticky!

Love your bikes rob. You think and buy outside the box and I strive to do that on my upcoming build(s). Is that Arsis on the Van Dessel? Do you enjoy it as much as you have your other Microshift stuff? Thanks.

Thanks! I try to find bikes not everyone has, and so far I've only seen one or two Spookys here and zero Van Dessels. Mission accomplished I guess hah. The Arsis is good. For $360 (shifters and FD, RD), it works fine. This version is bigger than the older stuff. My Nashbar ones on the Spooky are similar in size to the old Shimano 9-speed, while these are closer to the 7800 series as far as size. Shifting is fine, and I haven't had to touch them since they were set up by the shop. I am most impressed with the newer Williams wheels. The new hubs are awesome, and the wheels just have a better feel than the older ones. The Van Dessel is stupid stiff (although not super light), and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Cheers

Rob

robncircus, a fan of your builds. I also feel the same way in finding framesets to build up that stands out from the majority.

Jeepnut22, great looking builds as well. The white spokes on the wheelsets compliments the bikes perfectly.

New to road cycling. Let me know your thoughts on my new ride, first roadie. Only change from stock so far is upgraded 105 cranks to Dura Ace (shorter 160 arms for my short legs).

2012 Cube GTC Agree Pro
Carbon Bottle Cages
Shimano Dura Ace Compact 160mm Cranks
Shimano M540 MTB Pedals (Apologies - just transferred from my XC bike until I can afford Speedplays...)

Crappy phone pic but the black is actually clear coat UD carbon - looks great when the sun hits it.

Need to slam the stem and cut steerer me thinks...

Nice bike FrankieUK... I had the M540 on my road bike and it's great also. I just recently switch out to Shimano "105-5700" SPD-SL pedals.

I love these Cube frames. the bike is overall very nice looking. Could probably lose a couple of the decals on the wheels. It's just not needed to have 4-8 different stickers on each wheel. They are slowing you down
