i noticed something funny: the reported temperature got pegged at 50C (122F) for a long time. a month passed, and we're still at 50C. i bought my own thermometer..... sure enough it was WAY hotter. turns out the government caps the official temperature to 50C. maybe they feel tourists will go if it's 122 but not if it's 130?? wtf?
Those temps are nuts.
Apparently workers aren't allowed to work above a certain temperature so the official temperature might get adjusted officially so work gets done.

So excited for the future of American cycling; the pessimistic side says we've seen this before, but I really don't see how these guys wash out either.

We saw this (ITT Worlds) before with Taylor Phinney - for the USA. Taylor both had a bad accident and is at is very tall.
Lemond won the road after a DQ of the guy in front.
I do not think any were as dominant at this age as Brandon, but despite an ITT time that would have put him 2nd in the U23 - he is a kid. And winning an ITT and road races are different. And stage races more different. He wins the stage races too, but typically by obliterating the competition in the TT. So I hope it holds up, but it is early.

I am impressed watching his cadence and form. Doesn't do a lot of TT's does he?
Edit: Looks like about 110 cadence.

Guesses:
They are hot. It was hot.
They are "heavy"
The new Specalized shoes are very aero anyway

I expect it was closer to 400W - than 460. I think the 370 is a good number.

Speculating is, of course, more fun, but apparently it was 113 rpm and 370W.
Of course - he wasn't allowed to do that. Still good enough - I think for 2nd in U23.

I'm allowed all the gears I could want and on a flat TT the cadence for my PR was 107, and on most of my attempts my selected cadence is in the 105-113 range. Going up hills I'm closer to 90 for my best efforts, mostly due to gears limiting my options, and my power is higher going up hills. So I'm not sure, maybe closer to 90 on the flat would result in more power for me as well and the best results possible, but I find it uncomfortable. It's something I'm working on.
I think once Brandon has access to bigger gears his cadence might lower, but I'd be surprised if he drops all the way down to 93 right away.

I don't think 93. But as you said - likely lower than 113. Fact is the guys winning the men's ITT are not revving like the juniors.
Brandon is a very high revver.
As 99% of the folks on BF know - I think the junior gear thing serves no purpose but to discourage and take kids out of the sport.

Rally? I'd have thought he'd go to Axeon.
