Merlin Taiga seatpost shim

So I just picked up a early to mid 90s Merlin Taiga. All the info I find online says it takes a 27.2 seatpost, which it came with. The seat tube is much larger than 27.2 and uses a shim to take up the space.

I Called Merlin's customer service and they can't tell me what size post it would take without the shim because of the company changing hands a few times.

I'd like to use a dropper post with it and there are only a few options in 27.2.

Anyone with an old Merlin know what size without the shim?

Do you have the shim? If so, measure that with a micrometer, should be your answer there.

I do have the shim. I don't have a micrometer.
The shim is a factory installed part as far as I can find with Google. The only thing I can find is an article that references the shim and a 27.2 post but not what the actual size is.
