that's why i ride a beat up giant ocr with dents in the aluminum tubing. though i guess some may eventually steal my rival shifters...

The OP should set up surveillance on the bike to determine if it was indeed cats. If this is the case, NYPD is on the way wrong path in their intense bike thief hunt.

This spring I got 20 English primroses, and planted them outside the window. My girlfriend likes them, and they're one of the only things that bloom in the bleak Seattle spring. A few days later I came home to 20 holes in the ground. A primrose costs 99 freaking cents. We had already recycled the planters, so somebody dug them up, and carried them home in clumps of dirt. I still don't understand.

Maybe take it as a warning and feel lucky they didn’t take the entire bike? I understand its more fun to ride in on the BMC vs the commuter but if you cant bring it inside/a secure location its not the best idea. If I couldn’t take put my bike in the next cubicle over from me id never ride anything but my old steel commuter, but that’s just me.
