Road Cycling“It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway
Nice bike James! Have you taken it out on it's maiden flight? How does the Zipps compare to your old Reynolds?
Hey Choosak! Yes, I did take the wheels for a spin earlier this week. I could immediately tell that they hold their speed well at over 20+mph with less effort. But the magic is in its hubs. Boy are they smoooooth! The freewheel is definitely louder than my new Assaults, but it doesn't bother me. I rode the Back Bay trail and caught some crosswinds. While they are not in any way crosswind-proof, the pressure I felt is about on par as the Assaults in crosswinds if not a little better. Not too shabby! The braking is awesome with Zipp cork pads. It was quiet and has great stopping power. However, the pads were a BEAR to install! Mine didn't slide in all the way into the pad holders and kept having to unseat and reseat. Overall, very happy with my purchase!
We gotta hit GMR again, buddy! Can't wait to test these babies on the descents!
