+1 for znomit comment. If it becomes "easier", you probably should force yourself to do it faster.
+ for hhnngg1, most here will tell you going up a bridge is not really climbing. (except if you had 1000+ft 10% grade bridges!)
But you know, what you call a climb is up to you. And it's great to hear you've made some progress through your training!

shedding fat
It is all relative. I did a 50 mile ride today. Head wind from the north sustained at 15-20 MPH. I can tell you my powermeter was saying the 25 mile ride back with the headwind was a painful and long climb with a steady and relentless gradient despite the road being flat the entire time!!

https://app.strava.com/rides/3337255 - no power meter so the power and kj numbers are a joke.

not according to Strava. I emailed them about that exact thing and got a bout a 2 page email back on how accurate their power is, well, on a trainer anyway. They claim it's within a very small variance from having a power tap (on a trainer that is)

I normally average 180 - 200 watts for a ride. Yesterday I "averaged" 113 watts. Something tells me that Strava doesn't take into account wind and knobby cross tires. I have always thought that the Strava power calculator is a joke though, like every power calculator out there.

I did the flattest ride I can possibly do yesterday. It was very cold and very windy. On top of that I did it with my cross bike and just took it easy. Still ended up with 487 feet of climbing.

Don't cross the 2 bridges and you're flatter.
Kanawha city bike route is almost flat. One thing I liked about living in Kanawha city was you could easy almost flat loops, or turn up and climb fox chase etc.

I parked at Patrick Street Drug Emporium so I had to cross the bridges. Only other choice would have been to do loops on the Boulevard and that is wayyyy too boring.

I find that it's easier if you learn to pace yourself.

If you don't the variabilities of power calculators is enough that you're better off ignoring them and working off heart rate and or perceived effort.

Last year we were grinding up a 3-mile long medium grade. I was in 34-25 and just about to drop off but one of the guys was telling me to hang on; it would level out in a half mile. I glanced over at a tri-girl (on her road bike) and saw that she was in her big ring. I think my soul is still there laying in the gutter.

Time to pick on you, LOL!! I had 1322 ft of elevation gain on today's 70 mile ride despite staying on the "flat" valley floor the whole ride. You need to find some mountains.
