Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

hey i'm new here, up to page 100ish on this hread and figured i'd open myself up to some criticism and post my first build
total spend: under $200 australian with stuff from fleabay and the LBS's around here

still havent got clips for the pedals yet and the front brake isnt fitted yet but it will be today
gears are 48x18 fixed with SS 18 teeth on the other side
frame is a graecross courier from the 80's, cro-mo lugged
bar is carbon wrapped aluminium, grips are mtb

tell me what you think, also should i bother breaking it down and repainting it? i quite like the old paint which is in great condition

Before

Half-way through, still need clips and brake

The new project

the last bike is a new one im about to start... clearly it's a girls bike, making it a SS for the missus

The story goes the frame was bought from a racer in the early 90's and is a custom lugged frame, with old campy on anything that didn't need to be switched. And a quick question... are Modolo brakes good?

Sorry about the seat tube, the bolt snapped inside and it had to be re-welded and I can't afford a nice paint right now.

nice bike, tight geometry for a geared bike. i would kept it geared though and converted something else, but it probably rides nice fixed so why the hell not.

A LIKELY STORY.

I don't know what your game is mister - trying to trick us into believing your front wheel is a 700C - but I'm not buying it!

My Japanese market Bianchi Pista. Pretty much factory spec except for the Nitto RB-021 bullhorns paired with Cane Creek TT levers and MKS Sylvan Track pedals with SAG straps that I changed out.
