Hmmm? That makes no sense. I guess you could use it as a balance bike to propel you forward but then why have the e-bike? An e-bike requires pedaling you cannot ride a bicycle without pedaling to move forward the electric part is purely an assist to your pedaling. They do make bicycle shaped objects that some people mistake for bicycles but they have throttles and would be considered an e-moped which you wouldn't need to pedal or think on. It is very important we are careful not to conflate an e-bike with an e-moped or worse a gas moped.

Getting back to the article, it actually seems like a cool idea. While I am not a huge fan of AI, I do like this concept as it could allow someone to focus on winning the race and give them a potential advantage because they have so much going on that not having to adjust dropper post could help. It could also make it easier for newer riders not familiar with adjusting suspension and using dropper posts or people who are experienced riders but really don't play with their settings and could benefit from a different setting on the fly they may not ever make themselves and they might enjoy their ride more or be able to ride further or faster or enjoy the ride more.

Overall not a terrible concept if you read the article. Yes maybe Shimano is developing a robot that shoots chainrings and will destroy the world and are going to use this system to learn about us but more likely they are trying to build something to help everyone with cycling and continue to try new things and innovate rather than staying stale.

It's a patent, people. How many millions examples of patented but non-existent technology must there be? There is zero chance this patent gets acted on. Nor is it an example of AI at work. It's computerized but it is not intelligent. A truly intelligent system would analyze your bone and muscle structure and configure the seatpost, seat tilt, etc. for optimum performance.

It appears to be a relatively simple trial and error feedback loop with some basic machine learning.

Also ideal for people who have lost the ability to think for themselves or a are too lazy to think for themselves and need AI to think for them...Seriously bike tech is going in the wrong direction, I mean how complicated can it be to loosen a bolt with an allen key and adjust a seat post and saddle or handlebars by yourself ?....There is nothing useful or innovative about a bicycle which is controlled by software, it's probably the dumbest concept bike industry has come up with so far. Imagine what's next, you will have to pay a monthly subscription fees to bike manufacturers or else you won't be able to ride you electronic toy.
