Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

floor/hung on bikes not being ridden. All of it, kits, helmet, shoes etc.
Sometimes kits go in drawers or a rubbermaid bin but it's pretty rare.

helmets over either brake hoods for road bike or hanging from the handlebars on the mtbs. Gloves I hook on the cables so they can dry/air out somewhat. Shoes in the hanger thingy. All live in the garage.

Each person's bike has his/her helmet hanging from the handlebars with gloves velcroed to helmet strap. In my family, I can't tell you how many times it's been "where's my helmet? Where's my gloves" as if I have anything to do with it. When I store the bikes in the winter by hanging them from the ceiling, that's where all that stuff goes.

My stuff: I keep all my cycling gear in an athletic bag (Cannondale it turns out). I usually hang or set out everything to dry after a ride and put it back in the bag or put it in the laundry (but immediately replace w/ clean stuff) if it actually stinks. The helmet and shoes go in the end pockets of the bag, they fit fine. I keep my bike and my bike bag in my car at all times (mostly) because I never know when I'll get the chance to take a ride at lunch or right after work before I go home. I never forget anything!

Yes, but that is usually in the hall next to the front door next to the bike. I do try to limit myself to only one full time resident in the front hall, but sometimes it's a few plus the tandem. Depends on maintenance and upcoming rides.

I can't think of a better way to grow bacteria and make those things smell like hell. There's a reason the shoe, helmet, and glove compartments on my bag are vented with mesh.

Its a huge container its not like they immediatly go in either after I take them off. They are usually the last things that get packed back up in the car after the bike etc.

I have several hooks in the storage area above my bikes. It's very nice, both road and MTB helmets and shoes along with my Camelback has a hook. The respective gloves and lenses sit on top of the helmet. It's my favorite set-up to date.

A bit off topic, but my cycling clothing is in my bedroom.

helmet, shoes, gloves, computer, shades, arm warmers, knee warmers, hand pump, and chamois cream all get tossed in a small gear bag (open tote style) and left in the laundry room, which is right next to the door for the garage where my bike is kept. its my last stop on the way out and first on the way in. later.

In a pile... usually in the vicinty of my bike... sometimes near the door if I lack the strength to pick the pile up and relocate it to a different pile.
