Which vaccination did you get? I did have a 24 hr side effect period starting about 14 hrs after getting my 2nd Moderna vax, had chills, a mild temp and just felt fatigued. My wife had similar and was in bed the whole day. Both of us felt literally off then on when symptoms cleared the day after as if nothing had happened.
Hope your symptoms clear and you feel better soon. For me, a small price for protection and piece of mind. See you in June.

Pfizer and luckily both times were only sore arm and tiredness.

May '21 Velo Retro Pasadena
Finally made it back to Pasadena for the monthly Velo retro. I hadn't been since probably Feb. 2020. I counted 16 riders, nice turnout for a cloudy, cool day - perfect for riding, not so good for photos. Here's a few photos from the ride.

Good turnout today, 16 riders and plenty of great conversations. Overcast skies kept the temps down to low 70’s. Beantown has not yet reopened but it appears close so we stopped at the NY Pizza shop next door. Nice to see and chat with Steve, Manny, Salvatore, and Scott.
Here’s some pics:

A great day for riding. It looks like quite a few riders are also gearing up fo the L'Eroica ride coming up in Septemeber.
Good to see alot of the familiar faces attending again, It was good to get together with other riders and discuss our love of Vintage bikes and listen to a few "old bike stories" again.
Heres a few pics of the Group ride.

The building on the left used to be a Bank of America (and now it's a Chipolte). I set up my first checking account there with my first "real" paycheck from B&H Cycle across the street. Both B&H and the BofA are long gone...

Chuck showed up for todays ride, and it coincided with a Extra Big Turnout for the ride, over 30 riders were on hand to wish him (and sing) a Happy Birthday, Chuck was a little under the weather to ride but hopefully he will be back on 2 wheels to join us again.. Alot of familiar faces were on hand that have been absent over the last year ,so it was great to see them back on the Vintage ride.
Here's a few shots of the days action.

On these images though, the persistent downward tilt of the saddles...
there is a position or saddle selection problem.
When the saddle tilts down, as much as shown, gravity slides one forward. (could be mitigated by a suede saddle, but none to be seen, and that is a patch)
the result is that the rider is constantly pushing themselves back to not slide forward. slower cadence and leg, lower back muscle discomfort long term.
The Basso is close to expected.

Great pics. Looks like it was also a bit of a Serotta meet up too. That’s a beautiful Specialized Allez. I believe that’s a Dave Tesch built model.

Yes that Allez is something special, Scott picked it up with very minimal use, and it shows. Looks like it just rolled out of the paint booth.

Just checking in. I know Manny and a few others aren't available.
I'm planning on riding tomorrow Sunday July 4. Felipe, Scott and I will start at regular 11:00am time but we know it will be Sunny, warm to hot, 79 deg at start, going up to 88 by 2-3pm. At last ride we talked about maybe starting earlier, maybe 9:30-10:00am to beat the heat but it was not finalized. Suspect August and Sept could be considerably hotter. I've ridden this in 85 deg. heat and nearly damn near had heat stroke. Will be better prepared with extra water, electrolytes, and seek shade and maybe a garden hose to cool off if getting too hot, worst will be climb and sun exposure on Foothill to Sierra Madre to Bean Town climbs, and back. Bean Town is open again!!
Don't take risky chances, stay cool, well hydrated, and even then, slow down and take breaks if needed. Or avoid the ride if too hot. I'm not getting any younger and the risk is real, especially with the hotter climate in SoCal. Same will go for Eroica in September, especially the inland and hill climb portions.
I've considered creating a group text chain, or email chain, or getting people to go here or CR for info.
Does anyone else have any preferences? Can't reach everyone easily (Yet!) but we may try. I'll cross post to CR as well.

I'll be there tomorrow to ride in Pasadena.
I'll be wearing a long sleeve jersey. I'd rather sweat more over get burned by the sun.

I’ll have some spray sunscreen to use and pass around if needed.
