Swapping Quick Release and Bolt-on wheels

I have a hybrid bike with bolt-on wheels but wanted to replace the front tyre. I have a spare wheel but it's a quick release.

Would it be better to fit the bolt in the new wheel, or do I have to use a quick release skewer? If quick release, is it just put the skewer though and tighten, or is there more to it than that?

Bolt-on wheels and quick-release wheels use different axles. If you’re asking if you can use a quick-release wheel to replace a bolt-on wheel… yes you can, with limitations. It’s best to take the wheels to a bike shop and pose your questions to an experienced mechanic.

It depend mostly on the fork.

Some forks are slotted for a 5/16" (8mm) axle and will not accept a 9mm QR axle. Otherwise, if the wheel slots in, and you know how to adjust and use a QR, then you're good to go.

Or you can take a round file to the dropouts and widen them a little.
