I do not have anything to post, but a question regarding the clamp on's. Is the small tab on the frames necessary to prevent them from moving down the tube, or is being properly torqued sufficient?

That depends. I have worked with both, but prefer having a brazed-on stop, to prevent any chance of paint damage.

How many of you have seen a genuine CAPO brand downtube shifter (or derailleur, for that matter)? This is an early 1950s Capo Sieger, before Harald Cap went Campagnolo.
The rest of the group. Pretty crude craftsmanship, even by 1950 standards, certainly not worth of the frames, which were quite good. Wise decision to outsource the derailleurs after 1957.
One of the flaws in my Sieger was the bent-back downtube levers. Weird ... .
