Trek zector 3 ?? Possible transition to gravel bike
Looking for some feedback on the trek zector
do you like it?
what /where do you ride mostly?
was considering putting on a wider tire and trying more gravel type roads??

I don’t have any personal experience with the bike, but it looks like it would be pretty capable on a fairly wide variety of terrain, with the appropriate tires. The gearing will get you up most climbs, but may be limiting if you’re tackling grades over 10%. For the most part, the limits will be your fitness and skills.

Tire clearance, a critical point for gravel capability/flexibility (at least for me!), looks pretty good. Good like one could sneak up on some 40mm tires. Bottom bracket drop is pretty road-like. Biggest thing for me with these flat bar commuters and hybrids is the stack and reach if going with a drop bar conversion. I did this with a 2014 Trek FX 7.3 and the stack/reach numbers were perfect road bike numbers--and by that I mean Trek's more upright (meaning comfortable for normal people) H2 and H3 geometry. This Zector, at least in the largest size (as that is what I ride and thus look for), looks like it could accommodate a drop bar conversion. I am wondering what the difference between it and the FX of the same year was, as FX could come with discs. Both are aluminum frames. The FX made for a great big boy road bike. It looked like an Emonda road bike that had been to the gym. Fit 40mm tires. I imagine the Zector is going to be a similarly solid riding and steering bike. From their vintage steel stuff to their modern geometry era road bikes (started in 2008), Trek does a great job.

So I found something that worked .. trek said 38 would fit … I could only get 36s
to be fair the 38 measured out a little bigger and rubbed the frame
extremely happy with this change … I spent lots of time on rail trails this summer and was super happy with the rolling performance on the road as well
