Forks, handlebars, and chain tensioners
Hello! I just have a couple questions about the right fork that I can use on my bike and what size of handle bars. To clear a couple of things I just want to say that I am very new to working on bikes. I've had a bike my entire life but they are more of Mountain bikes and I never really worked on them since I like messing around with cars more. I have a friend that got me into it because he had an old 80's bmx bike that I don't remember the name of and I loved riding it all of the time. One time I was over his dad came up to me and he had an old Raleigh frame with nothing on it. He said that he would give it to me for free and now I have what I believe is a 79' Raleigh Rampar R10 that I've been slowly putting back together over the past year or so. He and his dad have helped me get the right parts for it and the progress has been pretty smooth. It has a one piece crank with a 45T chainring and a Tangeseiki MX320 threaded headset. Now I have some bear trap style pedals on the bike and some white 20" skyway tuff II wheels with a 16T freewheel ready to be put on the bike. I got an unknown fork from his dad and he said that it would fit and it does fit, but one of the tubes is slightly bent and won't let the front wheel go on. The fork also did not have enough threads to put the lock nut on without taking the locknut washer off. I was wondering what forks would work well with an "old" frame that is 1" threaded. I also have no handlebars on the bike currently and I think I know what I need to be able to ride but I'd rather just make sure. I'm 6' and I'm pretty sure that all I need is a 9.125" rise handlebar but I have no idea if that is correct. One last thing that I wanted to get information on is chain tensioners. I don't know if some bike do or don't need them and I was wondering if I would need them or if I would be fine without one. I just wanted to get this info so I could get the stuff and be able to ride this bike at the beach in about a month or so. Hope I'm not sounding like too much of an idiot and thank you to anyone who helps me!
