Hello to all from the southeast US!

Hello everybody!

I am trying to learn more and get myself off the couch and riding. Outside of a few times, I haven't really ridden since I started driving 3 decades ago. I have been rekindling my appreciation for bikes in the last year or so though. I really kicked things off by picking up an antique cruiser last August on a whim; it was cheap and close to the office. I have now gone from zero bikes to n+1 in the last year. I enjoy tinkering and learning more about working on bikes; most of what I have is old and will need some amount of work. I remember building a bike out of spare parts when I was a kid after mine got stolen just to have something to ride until my parents were able to get me a new bike. I still have the old copy of "Glenn's Complete Bicycle Manual" that I used .

What I currently have in order of purchase:
  • 1941 Wards Hawthorne Comet (step-through single speed "balloon tire" cruiser) - original down to the tires, missing only the headlight lens as far as I can tell
  • 1959 J.C. Higgins "Equipped" Flightliner (step-through single speed "middleweight" cruiser) - original with new tires
  • early 2000s? Batavus Personal Bike - Dutch bike bought from couple moving back to Netherlands and didn't want to take it back, still has Amsterdam bike shop decal on rear fender
  • 2022 Engwe EP-2 Pro folding eBike - haven't finished setting it up yet
  • 2008 Trek 4500 mountain bike (18") - mostly stored by previous owner and not ridden much, cassette freehub not engaging and needs tubes
  • 2008? Cannondale F7 mountain bike - XL and may be a bit big for me; it was very cheap but in pretty fair shape, needs a tune up, cleaning, and could use tires
  • late 2000s Trek 4300 frameset (18") - hesitate to include, but it is most of a bike lol
  • Late 1990s? Cannondale R300 (56cm I think)- essentially free with purchase of an old truing stand (TS-2) and shop repair stand (PRS-3) along with parts. It had been left outside and needs a lot of work, but I think it will ride again (chain is almost one solid piece)
  • late 2000s Specialized Roubaix (58cm I think) - also essentially free with the afore mentioned Cannondale R300 and parts and tools. It was rattle canned many years ago multiple colors and eventually left outside, but I think it can be made to ride again as well.

I have also picked up a used Kinetic wheel-on trainer to help me along my journey when the weather sucks. Likely one of these bikes will be used primarily for that.

I do like new bikes and I think eBikes are very cool, but I also like the idea of saving old bikes.

Thanks for reading if you made it this far!

Welcome @ghostr1der,
good start on the international collection.
Allow me to recommend more Europeans to keep the Batavus company.
Maybe Italia -

Batavia Competition above, Bianchi Vittoria below

Thank you! I just picked up a couple more international classics over the weekend for a great price. They are both in pretty good shape and ridable.

The first is I believe a 1977 Nishiki Sport. It appears mostly original, and it is certainly much heavier than it looks. Hi tensile Steel frame I believe.

The second (and main one I was after) is a most likely late 70s Peugeot PR10. It is a bit of a frankenbike though, with several newer and mismatched parts. It does ride just fine though.
