1976 Schwinn Super Le Tour 12.2, Silver Mist paint. An example of a "Schwinn Approved" bike, so built in Japan when I was six years old!

I have a late 50s Claud Butler Jubilee I need to build up. I'll do a resto mod with some parts from the 50s but some from the 70s. I'm worried that once I build it, I'll need to find a road bike from the 40s . . .

Early 90s trek hybrid. It used to be a back up bike. Then it got delegated to a trainer bike.
And now it's a back-up trainer bike.

My oldest complete bike is this 1956 Royal Nord President (made in Belgium). There is a loop frame 1946 Cleveland Welding Company Roadmaster skip tooth waiting in pieces.

French 1937 "Special Corsa", unknown frame builder. Some very rare components including an early prototype steel rail Brooks saddle, Bowden brakes, mid 1930s Stronglight crank set, 3 speed rear Simplex deraiieur, etc. It's light and I fantasize that it was raced. A great ride for bike paths. In the right light, and at the right angle, you can see the long gone "Special Corsa" transfer outline on the down tube.

I just obtained a 1977 Raleigh Competition GS in black for $150. It's in decent condition for how old it is, no rust on frame for the chrome areas of the fork and stays, the paint is solid just needs a bit of minor buffing, the only rust is on some bolts which is typical for the midwest. It's all original except for the rear derailleur is a Shimano Crane, period correct but not the original Campy gran Sport; not sure if the brake levers are original either, can't find out much about them but mine has the bar levers which I don't see in the pics of the bike online, but they are Weinmann levers with Weinmann Carrera calipers as specified in the catalog information, but everything else is all original including the rims and Brooks saddle which doesn't appear to have been used much at all, no saddle indentations for sit bones?! Even the rims have no brake wear marks on it which could have been simply sanded off, but I don't see any evidence of sanding, and the gears look unworn which could have been replaced. I think that bike was just a mid range model for Raleigh, I did find some examples on Ebay for $700 and up so I think I got a good deal. The original factory included pump came with it, but it's a German model not the Zefal, but it's the correct era, however the pump is old and the seals are dried up so I have to buy another Zefal HP for it. The plastic chain guard is brittle and broken in the rear, and the chrome chain guard on the front has peeling chrome, I plan on taking both off. The bike fits me perfectly.
The pump is a Bluemels which looks similar to the Zefal, and it looks period correct, I may try contacting Zefal and see if they have a rebuild kit for that era of Zefal since the Bluemels is the same diameter as a Zefal I have from that era that also needs a rebuild kit. If not, I could take the washer out and see if a hardware store has something similar. The Bluemels leaks air bad, if I close the chuck hole it just blows air out the tube, so the gasket is shot. Not sure why this bike has the Bluemels instead of the Zefal, was the original pump replaced, or was this bike purchased in some other country and brought here? The owner didn't know much about the bike saying it was his dads bike who died this last month.
EDIT: I took the pump apart, and a broken piece of plastic came out of the tube, the cost of the rebuild kit for the chuck and the tube is as much as a new Zefal, so I won't be rebuilding it.
Anyway, that's now my oldest bike by 8 years. If anyone has any information on that Raleigh I just got I would appreciate knowing about it. Thanks
I can't post any pics for some reason.

Not as pretty as my 1956 Royal Nord President, but the 1946 Cleveland Welding Company Roadmaster now takes the title of my oldest bike.

Yes, an ancient post. I was just scanning the first page and saw this. I rode a circa 1930 edition of the same bike. After the 1978 Blizzard of Boston. Friday eve. Snowed Tuesday. 10" of hard packed snow with "potholes" down to the pavement. Rode it the 3 miles I would have walked. The perfect bike for the job!

My 1999 Giant ATX MTB and my 2002 Lemond Zurich triple road bike are my two oldest bikes. The Zurich is great if going out to just ride a long hill. It's current set up is 52/42/30 with a 9spd cassette ranging from 12-28. I've rarely ridden in the 30-28 set up as that would be for hills so steep I shouldn't be on them anyway! LOL

Of known provenance, it's my 1976 Fredo Speciale, shown here restored with geezer modifications as a 100% correct 21-speed:
Undoubtedly older is a (1972?) chromed Ellis-Briggs Favori:

No reason to change the wheels! To modify the original Typhoon would be blasphemy for me , its charm is that it is 100% original down to the pedals . If I just could find the label that rivets to the back of the saddle bike would be complete.
My other cruiser bike looks like the Typhoon , an Aluminum Electra all black short of the spoke nipples , no fenders .Platform pedals with little screws to ruin my shins.
Now that bike is fun!
