Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Maybe it's like when you buy something at Sam's. It is the same TV you can get at Best Buy but it has a slightly different model #.

doubt it, might be typo and if they did then it should be cleared up if their "6" is to Fulcrum 5 or 7 specs. These 2 models could not be confused, the spoke and hubs are very different just looking at it.

Rather than them being a new model, is it possible that the designations are simply different in Japan for whatever reason?

Designations in Japan are the same:

the cassette is blocking the view of the rear hub which could positively identify the model number. the 6 on the rims is only a sticker. one would like to know the wheelset specs other than the sticker on it.

Its clearly a 6 on the wheel sticker. I know the Fulcrum Japan website doesn't show them, but sometimes OEM parts are kept strictly OEM and not shown on websites because they aren't for sale.

In the Fulcrum range, lower numbers have historically been better wheels, so your 5s are likely to be nicer than the 6s, which in all likelihood would be a replacement for the 7s.

well a google search for "fulcrum racing 6" came up with 7 matches.
one for this thread, one for a thread on road bike review, some dutch forum, and a couple from the specialized website.

seems odd to me.

This thread is by me, so is the Dutch forum thread .

On the dutch forum some1 replied with the following picture, there is actual 6 visible.

so what we really have here is a wheelset that only appears on the specialized website, the forum were all started because of the specialized website.

there is no question that what is SHOWN on the specialized site is a '6' but the thing is does it exist at all? i am presuming that should one buy the specialized bike with the fulcrum racing '6' wheels, they have no idea of the specs/type of the wheelset they are getting. is it J-spoke or hammer-head spoke? is aero blades or regular spokes? what is the hub type? sealed bearings? rim height? weight? etc. we can't get answers anywhere on the internet. nobody sells it too.

now don't go to fulcrum racing's specs on the 5 or 7 to answer or compare the 6, they are different models right? the 6 does not exist in fulcrum's official worldwide website. nobody knows the composition of a 6. if i were to make a crappy copy of a fulcrum with inferior parts and stick a fulcrum racing 6, who will say it's not a 6? could it be said it is NOT a 6? no, there is no data/facts to establish it. a 6 is anything with a 6 sticker unless proven otherwise.

the burden here is to prove the fulcrum racing 6 exist at all (outside of specialized website).

it is indeed. i am not saying there is no 6, but like any consumer or sensible person, i want to know what exactly am i buying other than one with a sticker which says 6 on the rims. if it could be established there is a 6, fine. but in the absence of any credible information/data on the internet....
