Exxon Graftec lugs!!
I was visiting a friend of mine to see if he had an LC - 17, shin fork crown, amongst his pile of tubes, drop outs and lugs.
That’s why I picked up these crazy things and said, “what the hell is this?”
My buddy was one of the four people in charge of building the Exxon graftech frames
he said, open your hands, and place them in my hands.
What would you do if you had a set of these? Would you make a modern interpretation of one of those?

They are just a curiosity at this point. For one thing, the seat stay attachment was so flimsy a lot of them broke.

There are not many here or elsewhere that I know of who i would trust to build a "rideable/reliable" frame. However this wouldn't stop me from trying a project no one would use. Too bad epoxy is not my nail. Andy

Those Graftek frames must've been quite popular back in the day, if you managed to encounter so many "Sany/Panaphonic"-style-branded knock-offs: graftec, graftech...

How many of those frames did they sell? My recollection is I never saw anyone that wasn't a national team rider on one. Unlike Teledynes, for example.

My Graftek was serial #1689; if I recall correctly they made around 1900 of them. Bought mine from the widow of the original owner, restored it, and passed it along.
