Helicomatic bearing question
Rebuilding a rear and there seems to be no internal damage so hopefully it is worth the effort.
There were 12 x 5/32 bearings installed before but the grease had long ago turned into varnish so it turned very rough anyway. Bearings were nearly mint.
My question is: How many bearings did they have?
I can't find a reliable reference and the voices in my head thought 13 and not 12...🤔🤔. I'd rather not destroy it.

Now, is it best to run these with the full load or should I reduce by 1??

I'd put as many hearings that can fit on the races so you can try to offset the undersizing of the bearings that Malliard did, when they designed the Helicomatic hub.

The Helicomatic Museum site says 13, 5/32" bearings per side. https://www.borgercompagnie.com/helicomatic/specs.html

Thank you all.
I went with all 13. It seems smooth.
Now I just need to fit it on a rim!
