I think that's a 1991 model.

I'd take a hard look at the seat cluster when it arrives..lots of leverage going on there.

Whoops, definitely a 91. I’d looked it up on vintage-Trek but must’ve jumbled it.

I’m not sure that it’s been ridden for quite a while. The chain is useless, and the chain rings and front derailleur look equally rough. There was also a photo of the seat cluster.

I would wash the bike, disassemble everything, throw away rusted out/bad parts, find replacement parts on ebay, lubricate everything good and re-install. You can find used groupsets in decent shape for that bike. Definitely replace that seatpost and QR seatpost binder bolt. But, honestly, If it was me, I would just keep the frame and maybe tires if they are good. Everything else looks to be in bad shape.

Very much the plan. My idea for whichever Multi-Track I got was going to lead down the same path. Getting one that’s a bit beat only makes those decisions easier. I have no qualms messing with a far-from-perfect bike vs. if it was in great condition.

When I did mine, I just purchased the frame. I actually got it from my local bike shop. It was a complete bike, but I didn't want any parts off of it. I just told them, keep all parts, just give me the frame. Frame was in ok shape for its age, a lot of scratches and some rust spots, but no dents, which was very important to me. I did send the frame off for powdercoating. Frame was 120, and powdercoating was 175. This gave me a nice base to work on. I didnt go crazy on fancy groupset or anything like that, I just wanted all around bike. I plan on installing some smaller tires and fenders and a rack. Probably 35's or 33's.

So I have these 2 Trek 750 bikes. Now that I am beyond the 10 posts for photographs and I would like to post photographs to show the top tube differences.

Can anyone tell me how to post photos directly to "Show Your Trek Multitrack" or do I have to go through Hybrid.

Hello everyone! I have been following this thread for a while. I was hoping to get some advice on a drop bar conversion.

My dad was the original owner of '95 Trek MT 700 - Ice Violet to Blue fade. It was in good condition so I had him send it to me earlier this year to use as daily/grocery bike. I cleaned/tuned it up, added new WTB seat, GravelKing tires, brake pads - but would like to convert it to drop bars. I've been doing my own maintenance on my road bike for years but have never done a full build/conversion. The 700 frame is a bit small for me, so I actually think converting to drops will be more comfortable.

Other than as noted above, everything else on the bike is original. I would like to convert it to a 2x drivetrain. Just looking for any advice as I get started.

To-be purchased conversion parts:

• Bontrager Select Drop Bars
• Profile Design Threadless Stem Adapter
• Raceface Threadless Stem
• Shimano Claris 2x8 drivetrain (?)
• Tektro caliper brakes (required? I've read some others have used in their conversions)

Just looking for any advice, as figuring out which parts will actually fit can be a bit confusing. Doing this for fun, don't want to spend a ton but not really on a budget.

Just picked this guy up yesterday:




1995 7900 in like new condition. Immediate plans are to replace the stem, seat and Gripshift shifters. I’m very excited to have this bike!

I didn’t need this, but it’s really hard to pass up a good deal. I paid a whole $60 for it, though it needs new tubes and the drivetrain needs a proper cleaning/line. Apparently the universe wants me to have 700c tires in the garage.

It is a 97 and it is pretty darn original. It’s a pretty lazy ride. The silent hub is, well, silent. I’m not a fan of twist grips nor this particular bar, but I’ve ridden worse.

I love the roller clutch hub. It's got instant engagement and is 100% quiet when freewheeling. It's really heavy, that hub, but it works well!

Thank you. I believe it is 99% original, the only changes from the 95 Trek catalog are the tires and the stem, which is also a Trek component from the same era. I suspect the PO had the stem changed when the bike was purchased new, and then they promptly hung it in the garage for the next 26 years. I seriously doubt it has more than 100 miles on it.... I started a thread about it called "Some Guys Have all the Luck"...

So I got another frame. This one was 1997 Multitrack 700. Non lugged frame. I turned it into 1x9 Advent. My original 92 lugged, I turned into commuter/all around bike.

Not mine; it's been up on eBay for quite a while and deserves a good home. I'd buy it myself, but the inn is FULL. If it's as good a condition as it looks, and it probably is, $330 + free shipping is a bargain and a half. Somebody, please buy it, save me from myself! 17" frame.

My 1992 Trek 790. I upgraded this quite a bit from stock. replaced the headset with a sealed cartridge bearing headset from Velo and a quill adapter so I could use threadless stems. Added a stem and Salsa Bend Deluxe bars from my Salsa Marrakesh when I upgraded that to Surly Moloko bars. swapped out the shifters and brakes for XTR dual controls and V-Brakes. Built these wheels from XT 9-speed hubs and DT Swiss TK540 rims. Terra Speed 40 mm tires. XT 9-speed cassette and RD. Brooks B67. Only stock parts are the seat post, FD and crankset.
