Panasonic Sport LX $75 Rainbow City AL
I've purchased a bike from this seller before, no complaints. Nice guy, enjoyed chatting bikes and motorcycles with him.

these used a snap-in pin, part of the plastic guide molding, they were not the most durable.
Also just happens that the sliver-gray plastic (only color I ever saw for these guides) is fairly close in appearance to the aluminum BB shell of Vitus 979s.
I had a spare guide floating around in my spare parts bin for awhile, if it's still there I'll snap a pic and post it.

I've thought about how I could possibly purchase this bike at this point in my life (grad student, trying to keep expenses down, living in small apartment w/ girlfriend), and I just can't. And it's killing me.
Raleigh SBDU 753. Can't seem to find the catalog in full, but here's a low quality picture: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...3237353&type=3
edit: Found it. Looks like a custom frame request? Bottom right of the image
Hopefully someone here gets it and takes it out for a nice July 4th ride. Interestingly it looks like it comes with 28c tires with potentially room for fenders?

Haha we'll see. My current paid internship is about to end sooner than expected so I'll be holding off on any fun purchases until I find something new. As long as someone who respects the bike gets it rather than some college kid who runs it into the ground I'll be happy.

My reco; unless you just HAVE to use a Vitus guide, replace it with a Shimano or similar unit, even if that means tapping a blind hole or even drilling AND tapping a new hole to get it aligned.
They last far longer and are far easier to find, even come in choice of color: black, blue, or purple (but not silver-gray AFAIK)

I'd say get it. I've had three of the 555SL versions of these bikes because I love the paint scheme. I have never seen on made in 753 ever. Can't be many around. I wonder what size it really is because no way that's 50CM frame.

If I were a betting man, I’d put my money against that being a Reynolds 753 frame. The decals are off, and custom or not, it just doesn’t look right. I’ve had a couple Raleigh 753 frames in the traditional paint schemes, so maybe this is just different paint. I suppose the serial number would solve this.
