Shimano shift blade compatability
I'm looking to buy Shimano 105 R7000 groupset. I'm very interested in the ST-R7025 that they market for "smaller hands", which I have. Just the levers alone, for the R7000 are almost $200 cheaper than the smaller 7025 version. Anybody know if I can swap out the blades on the standard size shifters for the smaller ones?
Alternatively, does the smaller size really make that much of a difference?

Near as I can tell after looking at the EV docs they both have the same lever body, just different lever blades.
ETA: To get the thread moved it has to be reported. I'll do it.

I'll look over the manuals again but I appreciate the input. The Sora shifters I have on there now are full size and the feel fine. If they work, then I'll save the cash and just use the full size 105s. I find the shape of the smaller blades kind of ugly anyway.

I'm looking at buying the whole groupset which doesn't typically doesn't come with the smaller levers but is hydraulic.

I currently have mechanical disc brakes and a Sora groupset on a Trek Domane AL3. LBS wasn't going to get the 105 or Tiagra equipped models for another 6-8 months so they gave me a good deal on it. I do eventually want to upgrade to Tiagra, if not 105. I was originally thinking about keeping the mechanicals but I could also move to hydraulics. I found r7020s that are similar in price to the r7000s.

The Shimano EV doesn't show enough to see what the hydro parts look like. Hopefully someone else here has hands-on.

Yes. But only if they're really going to make a world of difference to my hands that can currently, comfortably handle what I think are full sized Sora mechanical shifters. I think I have the small hands Tiagra version on my cycle truck and I don't really notice a difference.
