Moonm, you have quite the colletion! Very nice--- not just the Roval wheels--- but the entire bike collection--- WOW!

Please jump in more often and add to the conversation. Have you ever needed to source the Roval spokes for a replacement? If so, please share your experience. Looking forward to hearing more.

Is that a picture of a rim with cut spokes, or just rim detached from the hub?

Circling back to this near-decade old thread....

Thanks to seaborn who is located in New Zealand, I now have all the vintage Roval spokes, nipples, and even a spare hub-set, that I'll ever need! Classic and Vintage is such a wonderful resource, and this is a great example of us working together to keep our old gear on the road and in riding condition. I really appreciate Seaborn's generosity and his friendship!

Seaborn has also connected me with another person here in the US who is looking for a new home for his two sets of vintage Roval wheels.

My hope and plan is to set-up a vintage Roval repository as a source for spare parts for Roval enthusiasts. I can do so through my freewheelspa.com website, and make replacements available to others for the shipping costs. I really don't plan from profiting from doing so.

I'm looking forward to repairing my rear Roval and riding again soon.

That's great, Bob.

I'd been on the lookout for the stash of Roval parts that I secured 15 years ago, but still haven't found it since I moved into my house several years back.

I keep spare spokes for many Ksyrium wheels myself, gathered from damaged wheels just as with the Rovals.
I've been lucky enough to find the occasional NOS rear rim for Ksyriums, and also keep undersized freehub bushings in stock for resuscitation of the now-old Mavics.

Finally got this bicycle back on the road with its new old Roval wheels and Vittoria tubulars. Many thanks to pastorbobnlnh for a selection of Sachs sprockets including a 23/26 pair without which I’d have been walking up the last hill today…

Never having used Roval wheels before and with my fast days long gone I was still happy with how light and quick, relatively speaking, they felt. Less so with the rear rim joint catching the pads under braking but that’s just a reminder of what we’ve come to take for granted and can be resolved in due course.

The rear hub has a 136mm axle leaving precious little beyond the 130mm OLN but again in due course I’ll track down a 140mm axle once I’ve determined the requisite thread form for these hubs.

On the scales the bicycle weighs 20.5lbs with pedals and bottle cage. A lighter and less comfortable saddle would bring it under 20.

All going to plan it’ll get a proper outing in a few weeks for a two-stage time trial event, 15km flat and 10km uphill gaining 450m/1500’. As slow as I’ll go I’ll get some satisfaction from using the same bicycle for both stages while the guns unveil their elbow-steerers for the flat stage.
