Uh... Does this happen often?

Hi!

O.k, here's the story-basiaclly i was chasing my mate down the street, when the chain skipped, or so i thought, but it was a really horrid skip, so i stopped to have a look and found out this happened!

So does this happen often? How easy is it to fix?

I don't know the exact model of the cogs but I know they are Shimano, they are the stock ones of an '05 Mongoose Fireball.

Thanks guys!

It shouldn't happen often (I would think defective part that the warrenty should cover, unless it was abused by smacking into a rock). It should be easy to replace (your LBS would be a good place to start). Repair is right out (it would be more effort to weld it than to install a replacement and it wouldn't shift well).

If that's a Walmart version Mongoose, then yeah, it happens often. But replacement should be easy.

Do they even have Wal-Mart stores in the UK?

Yeah, ASDA is owned by Wal-Mart, didn't know they sold bikes though!

I like Chongo's idea, I would expect that to be one of the last things to break!

Not bikes, really. More like BSOs (bike shaped objects).
