Works with any number of speeds in friction mode. No spring mechanism to gunk up. I have them on two of my bikes for more than 20 years

Something like this?
Amazon.com: Shimano SL-M430 Alivio Shifter Set (3x9 Speed): Sports & Outdoors

What's wrong with your current shifters? Sometimes a flush with WD-40 restores non functioning shifters.

That is antique and may be hard to get - Shimano XT shifters SL-M732 indexed for 7 speed only but friction mode will be able to work with 6 to 10 speed.

That's too bad. I have an unused pair of 3X9 twist shifters that I'd make you a real good deal on. Got any trading stock?

You need mountain bike shifters to go with your MTB rear derailer and to fit your handlebars. These will work:

Shimano Deore SL M511 Mountain Bike Trigger Shifters Set 3 x 9 Speed | eBay

They got destroyed .I then replaced with XT brake/shift units that went on my other project. Tandem been hanging 2 years now sans shifters

I did see the SL-M430 didn't know how well they worked

Thanks

I replaced grip shifters on a Trek that I built for my daughter with Deore shifters similar to those. She likes them and they have been trouble free for years now.
