Where to put the best tire
I have a vintage road bike that needs a new front tire. It has a Kenda tire that is about 1n year old on the back with not many miles , I have a new Continental Ultra sport to put on the bike , for the best ride should I put the Continental on the front or on the back and move the Kenda to the front?

With nothing to go on and not having a clue what Kenda you have, I’d put the Ultra Sport lll on the front. That way when the Kenda wears out, you can decide if the Ultra is what you want and put one on the rear too.
Worst case you can flip them.

Always put the better tire on the front. A hip plant is far better then a face plant is... Andy

Andy is right that the best tire goes on the front.
Looks like you are running 27x1-1/4.
The Kenda K35 looks like a typical older center ribbed tire. Not a lot of info out there, not on Kenya’s archive.
The Continental probably is a bit more modern in materials and design. I think it is 3x60 TPI, so it should ride well enough.
It might be six of one, half dozen of the other, but I’d put the new Continental on the front.
John
Added: While it may not be the best indicator, I usually check rolling resistance.com to see if they have taken the time to test the tire.
They have tested the Ultra Sport ll and lll, along with 40 Continental tires.
Kenda has 2 tires tested.

I hope you never have the misfortune to have a blow out on the front. I can say Andy is spot on having had both and never having gone down with several on the rear but landed hard with a front blow out.
