Bike Commuter's Revenge - Driving a Car!

Over the past two weeks I have been driving a car nearly every day. This is unusual for me seeing as I have not owned a motor vehicle since 1989. Been helping a friend move a ton of boxes from a storage locker to a house using one car and a pickup truck.

My route is all busy surface streets with many, many 20 mph streets with stop signs at nearly every corner. Some other streets are 30 mph. Almost all are narrow two-way streets with on street parking where it is impossible to pass a slow moving vehicle.

OK...now for the REVENGE!

I drive EXACTLY the speed limit, unless someone tailgates me...then I drive 2 miles UNDER the speed limit. I also stop completely at every stop sign. EVERY danged one. A maddening experience for all motorists unlucky enough to be in a rush behind me.

I confess that I am getting drunk on the power to MAKE motorists obey the speed limits and stop completely, at least once, at ever friggin' stop sign.

YeeeHaaa.

We will send you flowers for when you are inevitably injured or killed to death in a violent bloody road-rage incident...

I wish more people would drive like JoeyBike. There's no law nor compelling reason to drive exactly the speed limit either; up to five miles under is reasonable.

I'm curious if he's giving 3 feet clearance to every cyclist, and slowing down to their speed a safe distance back until it's clear to pass with a full lane change. Some people get a little nuts about that.

I rarely drive. But when I do, it's slow.

I'll set the cruise control at 25mph when I'm on a 25 road. I inevitably get people stacked up behind me.

I've never see anyone take such pride in being an obnoxious nudnik. You have no idea how glad I am that you live else where.

Your life must be miserable if karma has any credence.

Commuting by bike for the last 3½ years I'm now used to go places slowly so when I'm in my car I never drive over any speed limit, I feel it's still a lot faster then my bike! And just like JoeyBike I slow down a bit more when someone tailgate me.

I don't get how driving the speed limit and making proper stop is bad.

I'm guessing it's not the actions themselves, but rather the glee taken in the disruption to others. Oh, and the framing of the issue as revenge.

I'm confess to wanting to seek revenge myself. However, I work to remember that I'm always safer if I deal with aggression by not being aggressive in return, even if it's passive-aggressive behavior.

I don't go out of my way to inconvenience anyone but I do drive the <speed limit and come to full stops and give room to any cyclist/pedestrians.
I get the angry glares from a few on rare occasions but I just go about my business.

That would be it - as well as the OPs prior immature and obnoxious behavior with the video taping conquests of roadies who don't know they're in a race.

Just curious -- Do you always stay under the speed limit and come to a full stop at signals when on your bike?

Car'ist entitlement syndrome dictates that car ppl in a hurry's importance goes up by how much of a hurry they are in.
If you have the audacity to hold one up, you should be punished, because, after all, their hurry and perceived sense of importance is much higher than yours.
If you are a stop sign stopper, or trundle along at the speed limit, hopefully the road rage you will have visited upon you will help make you understand the seriousness of your transgression.
If you smite their god, your punishment will be swift and furious. And rightfully so . . .

I've been on bike now for 1.5 years without car.

Hopefully when I start driving again I won't be a speed demon!

passive aggressive behaviour is not necessarily counterproductive or immoral. and in this case, there is no question that joey's behavior is for the greater good.

PS: so very sorry that you've been inconvenienced by a motorist who dared to drive slightly below the SPEED LIMIT.
