Stolen Bike Alert

A buddy had his Pivot Mach 429 stolen on Sunday from outside the Harvard U library. It's a well-worn red aluminum with a replacement rear triangle that is black, not red. The black rear triangle should make this bike stand out against the normal all red frames.

Give me a heads up if spotted.

Sorry to hear about your friends loss. Can't tolerate a bike thief, good luck.

Bummer! Have your friend keep their eyes peeled on Craigslist. Sometimes thieves try to sell the bike quickly for cash

What was your friend doing locking up (presumably) a Mach 429 outside in Boston?

Keep an eye on Craigslist and any local pawn shops, and tell him to buy a Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit. No lock is unbeatable, but that one makes every other bike lock look more appealing to thieves. And a beater bike for parking outside is always a good idea.

Outside the Harvard U. Library, probably an intelligent thief as well. There is talk around this area that the thieves know which bikes to target. What happens around here is stolen things are taken to S. California and visa versa. So checking other localities is helpful sometimes. People are learning about selling where you stole from.

If you haven't read this story, its great! A Canadian girl lost her bike to a thief, she saw it on Craigslist, arranged a ride and stole it back. Nice ending, but could have turned bad in a heartbeat.
