Relationships are easy during the good times, it's how you handle the bad times that really defines it. For us, we didn't do a good job...
Bummer dude, hope it all works out in the end.

My brother's first wife went to prison! He inherited a lot of debt, but the since the divorce he's lost 200lbs, been re-married, and seems a much better guy with a happier life.

Good luck. I think the best quality of life improvement can be the ejection of a bad relationship.

I would caution folks from painting the relationships of others as one thing or another since we rarely know what goes on in another's home. Sometimes things are just phases that need to be worked through, and what's called for is patience.

I haven't seen him at a race in almost two years. And it doesn't look like he is on Facebook anymore.

And rbart, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope things work out for the best.

As an aside, in North Carolina, we have a similar one-year separation requirement.

If there's anything that the last few years and my current relationship has taught me, it's that human interaction and connection is an extremely broad spectrum and people are all over the place. What's important is that it works for both parties in a mutually agreeable way and that communication is open and honest.

Sorry, rbart. Even if it's for the best, it's gotta suck to go through.

I've heard from a couple sources that the best times of a man's life is between their first and second marriages. Having said that, I hope no never know.

He's got a nerd job and is a bike racing nerd; the app he wrote and is selling is nerd squared and isn't going to make him rich.

The odds of him getting laid, let alone finding a long term relationship is speculative at best. Don't be afraid to short that stock.

Of course, there's always this:

FWIW, I've been married for 27 years. My wife is awesome. But I'm not disputing the premise.

Everything is great.
I'm raising my girls on my own. I have a home and new car and going to bed with a smile.
Single but everything is gold, man.

Stuff is getting back in order. Next year ... I'm getting back on the bike.

It's a 2013 Nissan with all the bluetoothy stuff and computer screen and all that. It's so slick I almost wet myself when I drove it off the lot.
Ok ... I did wet myself. But the guys at the dealership took it back and washed it again.

I'm dating around. It's awesome.
My house is in order and I'm like a little fancy interior designer. Buzzing about, picking fabrics and paints and just having a blast doing it.
My daughters love it and we put up a huge tree. A real 9' tree. It's awesome.
I really do have a blessed life.
