Post-Rustines: Brake hood source, MAFAC & Universal?

Needing one set of Universals and one set of (preferably) full-coverage MAFAC, I decided that, seeing the Rustiness website still up, to place an order all the way from France (plus a bunch of sets of shifter/QR covers in various colors). I had trouble with the website, getting an error message on each item when I went to add-to-cart. So, I sent them an e-mail message, both in English and in French (with internet-translation help). Never heard back. But, I went again to their site, and there's a change: every item on the website is now out-of-stock. OK, I get the hint... go away. So, while I don't think I should have trouble sourcing Cmapy/Shimano/Dia-Compe/Weinmann hoods, I'm curious if there is still a source for Universal and also MAFAC, and if so, what's the quality like?

There are a few Universal repros I just saw on that auction site. Feedback looks positive for the hoods.

Me too. I've got some of iab's repop Vittoria hoods to install on mine. I think a bit of trimming will be required. A neighbor a few doors down has his great grandpa's Frejus with the same levers and can use a pair as well.

Thanks, I see in Italian, that should be entertaining. I only see the Universals and I foresee $50 in shipping alone for one 2-ounce purchase.

I had not tried there. OK, worth a shot.

I would send an email to Rustines. They may not be aware of the website issues and I have found them to be very helpful and responsive in some past dealings….not only that, but their products are of very good quality….

Yeah, I did send an e-mail, as mentioned in post #1. This was perhaps two weeks ago, and no answer. I even sent it in two languages.
