Alberta via New York
I was born in Brooklyn, NY. Son of a cop. Moved to Orange County, NY to escape the crime. Went to the Univeristy of Kansas. Have lived in NY, DC twice, St. Louis, KC, Lawrence, Kansas (went to KU)... Anaheim/LA... Calgary, then Edmonton, and back to Calgary. I biked most of my childhood - we build our own bikes w/parts we got form a used bike dealer. Real beaters! Got my first suspension fork in '95 (Schwinn Moab Elite), then drifted more towards hiking, and a bit away from biking. With the cost of fuel going up, I now bike 26km a day on an old 2000 Norco Wolverine. In the process of finding a 80s/90s/early 2000s bike to use as a commuter. They're cheap, and I'm sentimental. I like old cars, old guitars, and now, old bikes! Can't afford a new one - 4 kids, inflation. The challenge will be I haven't ridden a rigid fork since I got the Schwinn in '95. I do mostly road, but some trail near the house. I'll also find a 20th century trail bike w/a decent suspension fork, so I can travel the Bow River Valley trails just outside my front door here in Calgary.
A lot of info there, hey?! Also, I miss New York...
I am looking forward to learning a lot here.
