Looking for cranks that look like old stronglites
I'm building a fixie to honor my bikes that were stolen. I had a pair of stronglight cranks on my first bike and I think something similar would look good on this new build. I don't want to just get a pair of real stronglites because I don't want to deal with all the BS that comes with them like the pedal threading and 122 bcd. The cranks had 5 triangular arms with the middle of the arm cut out, kinda looked like a pentagram. I'm new to the forum so I can't add a photo. If there are single or double cranks with similar looking spider arms please drop a link. Thank you!

Stronglight mod. 49 also used the pentagram design for the outer ring. The mod. 49 crank used a 50.4mm 5-pin mount compatible with many other 5-pin cranks, from TA, Sugino, Shimano, Lambert/Viscount, Williams, and others.

That's certainly a good solution to avoid dealing with French pedal threads, although I was easily able to tap two Stronglight 93 crankset French pedal threads out to English. I think the Stronglight mod. 49d cranks were also sold as TA Cyclotouriste.

No, the Stronglight mod. 49 and TA Cyclotouriste cranks could use each other's outer chainrings, but they were otherwise entirely different, and inner rings did not interchange. If you used a mod.49 outer ring on a TA crank, your inner rings would have to be Stronglight 122mm BCD. And if you used a TA outer ring on your mod.49 crank, your inner rings would have to be TA.

A vintage suggestion - Nervar Star cranks. They used an odd 128mm BCD but you CAN modify 130mm BCD rings to fit, AND they take standard 22.0mm crank tools unlike the 23.35mm Stronglights. I’ve been running a set on my ‘73 Raleigh Competition with much success.
Later Stronglights made for 22.0 tools might be another choice.
