Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It’s not that far to ride out of the photo to the left. It’s probably 10+ miles from where i was standing, going further north to Hwy 190 and Death Valley as you then go through into the other side of the paramint mountains.
It’s one of the less travel roads i’ve found.

I drove through Hwy 198 recently, between Coalinga and King City. I believe it crosses over the San Andreas Fault at some point, very twisty road. Not much of a shoulder to speak of though, sadly. Tops out around 2500 feet, IIRC. Scenic road, but I would not want to drive it at night.

Excellent "God Rays". Were any burning bushes observed in the vicinity?

What a great looking shot/image. The road seems as though you can ride for days and days.
