Colnago Super questions
The chain stay bridge is not fluted - any estimates of the build year?
Drive-side seat stay has a chain holder pin - was this an option?
Bottom bracket has stamp 14 - is this a production number?
The Selle Italia saddle has a signature - is this Jocelyn Lovell?
Bike has an older custom paint scheme which I believe was done by Pecco's in Gatineau, Quebec.
A mix of Campagnolo and Shimano (freewheel and bottom bracket).
The bike ride is wonderful and almost silent compared to more recent bike componentry.

Recessed nut brakes make it at least 1980-81 I would think.

There is no patent date on the RD which I believe means one of the last years of production of the Nuovo Record (85-87?) as the patent expired. The chainset is Campagnolo Super Record and I think this design without the flute in the arm means >= 85. The previous owner(s) was having fun with this build, older frame and fork and a mix of newer components.

Nice bike and I agree with you about the ride on these Supers. I don't know much about the later ones , The geometry looks similar to my '75 but this one has some different features that the seventies model didn't have . As far as the number stamped on the BB shell, I think it doesn't have any relevance to date but there may be the same stamp on the steerer tube. Mine has a 35 stamped on the DS rear drop out and the same on the steerer tube. The fork crown on yours is the same as mine as is the cut out on the BB shell.

the #14 probably matches a number stamped on the fork. Builders did this to keep stack heights meant for head tubes, etc.
Note, under the BB cable routing started in 80ish.
I will say though, usually at this time period, early-mid 80s, the chain stay bridge was shaped like a spool. Odd.

Mid 80’s or later is my guess. 2 sets bottle cage bosses and braze on FD. Quick Look at pics of my old one (1982) and disappointed to see I never took a pic of the BB shell but I don’t recall it having the brazed on tube cable guides.

I'd say it's a 1981 model. It's in a transition period where they switched to the spool shaped chainstay bridge and started routing the cables under the bottom bracket shell. Both happened in 1981.

With the derailleur brazing and flat seat stay tops, I would say 82 but the chain stay bridge is odd that it is not the spool shape. Even the pre 81’s didn’t have fender mount holes like that. I would say it is a 82 that had some work done, the st bottle cage holes and the chain stay bridge are added.

Many thanks for the great feedback! I am pleased the saddle signature has been identified but why the saddle is on this bike remains a mystery. Did anyone notice the brake cables are internally routed through the bars - any comments? I have replaced the tires with Continental 25mm gumwalls - no issue with the Nisi Mixer rims.
