That's why you'll never make it in the big leagues.

Only 56 for a high here today. I plan to go out on some kind of a ride if it dries up a bit. My Tuesday group has cancelled.

Ever do the (road) ride to Mount Baldy ski lift? First, you climb 5000 feet in 25+ miles to the village, depending on which way you go up. Then, when you just want to have a snack and turn back, the next 4 miles to the top gains 2000 feet. Lots of 15% in that section and I usually have to stop but I have made it to the top without stopping on 34x29.
What's amazing is watching the pros race up that thing after flogging themselves all over those mountains. Too bad there's no more ATOC.

I tuned in late and didn't see the hit. They never replayed it again while I was watching, and I stayed tuned for over an hour until the league finally postponed the game and the fans filed out. It was such an eerie scene to tune in, see the stands totally filled with fans, but there's no cheering going on and the field is totally empty.
The awful part was after he got up and fell back down. Then everyone knew he was in trouble.

The low gear on my MTB is a 32x52, which is pretty darn low. I think I was in the 2nd-lowest gear for the steeper parts of that ride. The gearing is such that 15%+ isn't really a test of brute strength to muscle a big gear, but more a matter of how long you can tolerate going that damn slowly.

Oh, you gotta do it. I like to do it when the roads are closed to cars which happens every 4th of July weekend. Of course it's hot then. Sometimes it's closed when it's been raining and that is the best time, as long as there is no ice. I like to turn back at the Village. On a day with lots of cyclists the village has a festive atmosphere. The cafe at the lodge has always been super friendly to us but I heard it recently changed owners, so we'll see if that keeps up.
They put a bottle fill station out front, they give great service including extra fries and drinks n/c. And when it's cold they have a roaring fireplace to sit near. If you go back down the easiest way there is still 1600 feet of climbing, so you have to account for that. Easy drive from your area to the bottom.
My 60th birthday at the lodge cafe. Friend took the cake up the day before.

That really sucks. Who called the bus and why did they feel it was necessary? You might try to get them on record.
We narrowly dodged one of those many years ago when my daughter's daycare called an ambulance because she was shivering with a high fever and they had once seen a kid have a febrile seizure. I met the ambulance at the door of the ER and, mainly because it was a military hospital, I think, the crew tore the trip sheet up.

I've never been in an ambulance. Who bills you? An ambulance company?

Oooh, exciting first day of trading 2023. One of my issues got high enough to trigger a 10 share sell order. Now I have to figure out where to put $1220. One of my savings accounts is paying damn near 4% now, so it might sit there for a month or two.

Thanks.
It's complicated. We hope she is doing better but she really is not open to talking about it with us. I totally get that a 21 year old girl does not want to talk to her parents about her private issues, and I was probably the same at that age...but it would be helpful if we had confidence that she is doing ok. I am not so sure she is but at this stage not much I can do. All our attempts to help her are evaded.
Sigh.
