Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Recommend custom orthotics/insoles.

I need to wear custom insoles due to collapsed arches.

I've been using custom molded Footbalance insoles for 3 years, and was going to get a new set, but the place I got them from has closed down.

Was thinking if trying something new this round.

Looking for recommendations of custom insoles of equal or higher quality than Footbalance.

Thanks!

I got some custom eSoles several years ago that I'm still quite happy with.

tbh, I also got some off-the-shelf Specialized BG Performance footbeds that I'm almost as happy with. The eSoles are definitely a little more comfortable...but they also cost four times as much.

I've had very good results with these, and I've used many kinds over the years, including custom molded by a Podiatrist.

I've had good luck with these. You'll notice they are heat moldable to aid in getting a comfortable fit.

I have had great luck with the SOLE insoles. They come with shape to them already, but they are heat moldable. You can heat them up and then stand on them, but if you have fallen arches, this is probably going to collapse the arch support. I take my heat gun and modify them to the shape that I know works for me. Takes a little elbow grease and a pair of leather gloves, but it works very well.

With cycling shoes, much like with ski boots, since your foot doesn't bend at all, you just need to support the arches in a relatively static position. I think if you just find an insole that fits how you want them to be, then once you put them in your shoes with the stiff sole, you should be good to go.
