The rear derailleur I pulled out of the BOC on its visit to Manhattan is now on my mentor’s 1971 PX-10E. The frame was boxed up for 5 years or so, it has the original headset and a more recent crankset. Half hood levers courtesy of @obrentharris, and the rest is parts bin. Soon it’ll have one of the new stickers!

I'm kinda jealous that the Box got to be at Cino. Also drooling at that PX-10E that looks like it's my size.

OK, Crapateers, I'm back from the void and have taken care of business... at least 99.44% done. So life got turned upside down in June, then Cino happened then work and life came crashing back down, then I opened up the BOC and got stuck in paralysis by analysis. I pulled three borked/redundant items and one non-CV item that just wouldn't fit. Madhonk called in a resupply drop and the goods were extremely good to replace the four items taken out. My biggest problem wasn't with crap, it is all pretty sweet, I just couldn't use the crap and hording violates rule #3. I'm not really in the build stage of my life, so I had to be judicious, but I still found some very cool crap for what is currently around.
A quasi-reveal picture that combines the BOC with the resupply box.
My take:
I love a good bell. Is it a sin to put it on a bike with more than 3 speeds? The Benotto tape should go on my Peugeot or maybe my Gitane (French colors). The 14-21 5-speed Atom freewheel will find its way onto a French bike (once threading is determined). I have been hoping for some MTB levers for a flat-bar conversion on my gravel bike (sweet!). The Onza bar ends will go on my daughter's MTB and I couldn't resist some cool stickers.
The box was supposed to go out today, but at 12:05 I discovered that the local post office closes at 12:00 because of staff shortages. Awesome. Tomorrow is apparently the day.
My apologies for the delay. It has been fun playing, but I need to move into the n-1 stage of life, so I will recind my recidivism and retire from the BOC chain gang.
Enjoy, crapateers!

I'm glad you are OK! My last discussion with you was about your surgery, and I forgot about Cino. I'm hoping to see the box move along again with few delays. Play On Crapateers! Smiles, CrapMaster Honk

I received notification that the box departed the Kalispell, MT post office sometime shortly after noon (local) on Wednesday. USPS tracking was telling me to expect it by 9:00 pm Friday.
I laughed, and laughed.
Sometime between noon and 13:00 EDT, the sound of a weighty object being deposited onto my porch reverberated through my abode here in the Blue Ridge. Could it be?
Indeed:
This box not only got to attend CINO, but also Fleet Week? I call FOUL!
Here's the obligatory teaser picture:
Eventually, someone with a Sekini will take pity... or someone will concoct some drink featuring triple-sec, christen it a Sekini and mount this over their bar.
I was blown away by all the great stuff that was in the box. I got ideas for several new projects, but I resisted acting on impulse. I had immediately laid hands on a crankset, but then realized that I lacked a proper BB for it. It took me nearly two days to
pare things down to a managable level and to limit it to components that would actually find homes on actual in-progress projects.
Here's the "take"
I did notice the crack in the spider, however I do have an identical one that lacks means of attaching a second chainring. After verifying the bolts moved, it moved to the keeper pile.
I'm thinking the bell may end up on my Clunker challenge (Bumblebee) as I give it a couple other modest upgrades - if not, it will definitely get plenty of use.
The brake levers will go on a Bridgestone which still has the original grab ons to replace the turkey levers that it came with as I adapt it to be the designated fixie.
The RD will end up on the wife's 753-tubed Technium (longer term project that is putting a "Frame Doesn't Fit" bike back on the road - it's 80% painted but I am going to have to build a pair of wheels for it)
The bar tape and the crankset will end up on the Carlton Corsa that had been stalled out due to it lacking a crankset.
The ephemera will serve to forever remind me of how I irretruevable ruined the dynohub on my late uncle's Superbe by removing the magnet as I attempted to figure out how it should work. It will eventually reside on a bookshelf in the shop.
I am hoping to be able to cram everything back into the box and get it heading back west tomorrow.

I though I should add a transport picture of the BOC when the post office finally received it. Fortunately, I only live four blocks away as that is one heavy MOFOin’ BOC.

USAZorro,
Glad you found some great stuff in the BOC. I put the bell in the Box after I got it from Bianchigirll, so I hope you enjoy it as a find shared by more than one BF member. I am remembering you are a big soccer fan, so the fall practices are just a couple of weeks away here at IU. After loosing a few players this year I am hoping the trend in good players continues. Enjoy your finds.
New players are welcome to sign up here and play along in the Box O' Crap game. Play on Crap-A-Teers! Smiles, CrapMaster Honk

Apologies for the slow-ish turn-around. My wonderful wife gave me the ok to get a serviceable vise from Harbor Freight this past weekend, and it was obvious that the inner chamber could benefit from a bit of chiropractic I felt a twinge of responsibility, as the last time it came around, I had to brace the inner-box up substantially. I was slightly less anal this time.
Then cut my finger mysteriously and used the quasi-open minor flesh wound as an excuse to overthink whether I should take another item or two, and then what I should put in. Anyway, I've not succumbed to righteous greed and have sealed and addressed the box.
I'll have a (hopefully) much less busy work day tomorrow, and will send it off to the great void out west - where the intrepid box may have to brave wildfires.
Onward, upward, but ultimately subject to gravity.
Le Box!

The exalted Box O' Crap has endured many issues and a cut finger may be just another if them. I trust you have signed your name on the box liner as a testament of your receipt of it. The BOC is an enduring testament to the desire of C&V members to share their crap amongst themselves. For any new members willing to find a bit of treasure in the Box O' Crap that they can use should sign up here in this thread. As always asking for players to join in the fun. Smiles, CrapMaster Honk

The basket is attached to a Blackburn rear rack that ended up working on the front. Still might have exceeded the weight limit… but it was only a few blocks…of very odd handling.

However, when one opens the box, sees the Sekine looking back at them, they can rest assured they have received an authentic box of crap.

I was just telling Mad Honk yesterday that I should have rescued the pie plate, shined it up a bit and put it on my bicycle wall...
However, when one opens the box, sees the Sekine looking back at them, they can rest assured they have received an authentic box of crap.

Added to watchlist, I want to see where that goes...if anywhere.

OK - Here's some interesting trivia that I have learned this week - a week that challenges some of the worst movies ever produced on the theme of "when details that shouldn't be a factor intrude on the story line".
There is a Priority Mail Large box that is the exact same length and width as the Flat Rate box, but which is about two inches taller. Last week, I had grabbed a couple boxes from the Post Office, not paying enough attention to things - not realizing they had this other very similar sized box.
I packed the box up very deliberately and commended myself at my box-filling prowess, as everything fit wonderfully. I labeled it and took it to the Post Office when I had a break on Wednesday, put it on the counter and heard the clerk say, "You know that isn't a Flat Rate Box?". Before I retrieved the box, the clerk insisted on weighing it to see what it would cost to ship. $109 and change. Um... no thanks.
I grabbed a Flat Rate box before I left (I was strapped for time and didn't have my tape). I left the box in the car, figuring it would be no big deal to just tape the bottom of the Flat Rate box closed, open the bottom of the box I had things in, and let gravity do the rest. I got an even smaller break from work Thursday, rushed to the Post Office, attempted the aforementioned magic trick and the Flat Rate box was hopelessly split on opposite sides. Grrr. I guess I'll just have to tape another box up and carefully lower the metal casing in. Well... I got one side to fit in, but the other got hung about 3/4" before it should have bottomed out. Recognizing this was not going well, I grabbed a couple more boxes and headed back home (where I work). Friday was a solid busy day, so I couldn't even attempt an escape, so I got up early this morning. I was able to fit the casing box into the Flat Rate box, but try as I might, I could not re-arrange things so that everything would fit.
So on to Plan "D" or "E", I decided that the only way to get the box to close would be to remove the bulky triple crank that had initially caught my eye (I sourced a new Hollowtech BB for $25.00 - which didn't sound too bad - and which hopefully I can install with tools I already have) - which will end up on the Motobecane Grand Touring that I picked up as a fixie a couple months ago. It is going to become a proper Tourer (and be designated as my future RAGBRAI vehicle?), and the BOC will have a few more choice additions which will take up less space.
It absolutely will be starting its westward journey on Monday, with apologies to all who are eagerly waiting in the wings.

Sorry for the delay in posting. I was visiting South East Asia when the BoC arrived. I made it home yesterday and unpacked the the BoC.
There were some items I was looking for (single sided clamp on shifter and the water bottle cage), a few that I didn't think I was looking for until I saw them (the bell and a set of leather straps). I did remove a few others so that I could put in some things that I thought were upgrades to what I took out.
The BoC is now on its way east and should be there Monday.
Mike

It arrived on Monday. I am away from home working for 12 hours each day on Monday and Tuesday. Will dig in on Wednesday.
Already did a precursor. there is a lot to go through!
Stay tuned.

This picture is close to what the box looked like when I received it.
Last time I played was when DD was running it. It may have been the original edition of about 10 years ago.
This box has been lined with sheet metal so it can keep its shape. Great Idea! I straightened the corners that were bent.
The contents surprised me. There was a lot of good stuff of decent condition. However, I think the box could loose a pound if the parts were clean!
I was not able to add everything on my findings as candidates. The box is full so it is hard to add more than you take. Adding smaller stuff helps.
My takings
Box is ready to tape up and ship.
