Don't we need a "vintage steel frame with carbon fork thread also? Might as well put that into the brifter forum along with the "Oversize tubing thread" that is currently sitting atop the C & V list. They need to be wherever the Retro STI/Ergo thread is.

I want to thank the moderators for working to be responsive to us. I think you were a bit too quick to be a bit too responsive, if that's a criticism at all. And realizing that following the suggestion of one person is not the best plan, you're asking for input, and that clearly causes another problem. I hope consensus about this is clear. It would be fine to have a thread about specialized topics in the C&V umbrella. You will notice that C&V is a holistic group, and we talk about lots of topics, including repair and rides, not just old bikes.

I was not really making a comment about the topic rather a comment about the Avatar video clip. It is from a daytime comedy show that did a feature segment called "Homey don't play that game" where the clown kept beating the second member and reciting the "Homey don't play that game!" line. It may have some overtones of a less impassioned interest in the topic being discussed here, but I was only pointing out the irony of the avatar and the tag line associated with it. Not meant to offend or offer other meaning to the tag line. Smiles, MH

And workarounds, modifications, hacks, kludges, retrofits, upgrades, overhauls and so many things that come up out of the swamp, thin air and our very own skewed sense of "how this/these/those things should be done." very often with great results, but as it is holistic and organic, we need the swirling stew of it all to get there, the more direct input right here and now is key to the whole thing, IMO.

Early in my membership here, I thought there was a better way to categorize topics of discussion. How arrogant. The scope of knowledge and experience is unique to this forum along with the personalities. Fortunately the range of personalities tends to be a heck of a lot more civil than elsewhere.
I learned a lot here and I mean C&V. I too visit other forums but this is home.
I can understand the apparent lack of attention to the 8-11V topics but it isn't unlike so many other aging experiences. What is contemporary to me is now 40 years old or more. I consider the latest addition, 1988 De Rosa Pro with full 10V record, a new bike. It exists in my happy place because of this forum and specifically C&V. Thank you to all of those who have contributed to my OCDness!
If threads are going to be moved, there is a gold mine of threads in the mechanics, framebuilders, 50+, folding bikes, tandems, SS, etc. forums.
If this trend of "fixing what ain't broke" and "change for change sake" is going to happen, what about a forum based on eroica qualifications to be used for C&V criteria?

It also illustrates that sharp lines are hard to draw.
What if somebody did a pedal-off between such a DeRosa and a top-line Specialized Roubaix? Where would that belong?

Reminds me of the time as a kid I got an alarm clock for Christmas.
It was one of those analog ones that was sort of but not really trying to be digital. You couldn't put it beside your bed, because every time the numbers flipped it would make that flipping flip sound every 60 seconds. The ol' double whammy. A thing that threatened to wake you at some point if you dared fall asleep through the noise it made.
You can probably find these on eBay. Get one for someone with good hearing that you really don't like.
