Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2nd on my segments so far. Seems like a prophecy for me at this point, coming in second. Gonna find the A bot after a little cooldown and attack the group for another 15ish min. The bot is on Waistband (my favorite route) so I'll wait for a little rise and then send it OTF.

Chucks were well off the radar; they might not have even been Chucks. They were hi-top black Converse. I got picked up once, because of those shoes. Another time with Viet Ńam boots on.

Heading out to the NCAA Women's regional games, Notre Dame vs Oregon St, live here in Albany.

Should be fun. Keep an eye open for me in case they happen to pan towards rowdy fans.

1 hour AR tomorrow.

3x15' Threshold on Sunday - 10' rest between.

3x10' 40"/20" 2x10' 10" full gas, 50" rest - 10' rest between each set then - 1 hour tempo with a 20" burst at about 330w every 3 minutes then immediately return to tempo.

There is no such thing as Zone 2 until at least September. Stop going there. You're either breathing heavy or in AR.

I generally agree with this sentiment, at least for frequent z2 riding, which is a base/pre-season thing. Question, do you think that there is still a place for it, for long duration high TSS rides, even in season?

In season, I would usually still try to get in a 4+ hour ride at least a couple times per month, which sort of necessitates some appreciable z2 time I would think? No way I would do that in z1 the whole time, too boring.

Honestly, you have so much in the bank from off season training, you certainly don't need that. Depending on how often you race, high TSS rides are definitely counter-productive. Of course, going out for a bike ride is good for the soul, and when I rode to my workout location, low Z2 was on the plate. Z3/SS/Tempo was on the way back though.
