Preferences: Miele Uno 12 or Miyata One Ten ?
Assuming that either bike would fit, which of these bikes is the better deal ??
1 - Miele Uno 12 with Ishiwata 1430 cro-moly frame and all Japanese alloy components Sugino crank set, Araya alloy wheels, Shimano Light Action SIS, for $40
2 - Miyata One Ten (1985 ?) with triple butted Miyata steel frame and all alloy Japanese components, Araya alloy wheels, friction shifters, for $20.
The Miyata appears to be in much better condition (cosmetics) than the Miele but indications on this forum are that entry-level bottom-of-the-barrel Miyatas are basically scrap.
The Miele is cosmetically a bit rougher but it does have the Ishiwata frame and the indexed shifters. Unfortunately, at $40 it costs twice as much as the Miyata....
Ewok for scale.

I think it is a moot point unless you play center for the Ontario Ospreys. They both look like 27" frames to me if not that are 25ers for sure. You need to around 6"4"+ for those puppies.

I have paid as much as $100 for a Miyata 110. I have sold a refurbed, ready to ride 110 in red for $235. BTW, you're supposed to spell out Japanese, not use the politically incorrect slur.

Yes - Miele 64cm
Miyata 69cm.... but for $20 I could not resist.
Sometimes I stretch a bit.
I do not like small bikes.
Last years bike is an old Steve Bauer Sirocco.
I had a big red Bianchi as well but it was desperately desired by someone else with deeper pockets & longer arms.
Do you get Steve Bauer bikes in the States or are they just a Canadian thing ?

OH Ya we get those Canuck bikes down this way, not often though eh.
If the wheels and derailleurs are in good shape you can always stripe it and put the parts on a better fitting frame.

Binky,
Did you buy both bikes? If you did I like to see better picturess of the Miele Uno. I own an 85 Miele Condor and don't see that many Miele's on this forum. I enjoy riiding my Miele Condor and find it to be a well balanced and great riding bike. Miele's don't seem to have much of a following on this forum.
I think they are very underrated as bikes worth owning.

I cannot imagine passing on a Miyata like this one selling for the price of a large pizza (pepperoni, anchovies, double cheese) and two Cokes.

In US dollars, it is a $16 Miyata and a $32 Miele. WOW!

I owned an '87 Miele Condor at one time and liked it a lot. A bit on the small size so I passed it on.

That is a HUGE Miyata!!!! The Miele is big enough, but, wow...that Miyata!
But...if given the chance, for $20...yep, would have jumped on it too...although it would have come up to my head! :-)

The Miyata is a better deal better components and tubing. Note the Miele has some cheaper steel components seat post, likely bars and cheap tires and seat, no brake hoods looks like the bars might just be taped with some kind of none bike tape. While very similar bikes nearly all of the details are just a bit nicer on the Miyata.

You, sir, have been an inspiration to me (and to my wife).
Because of your website there are about 60 old bikes in the house... Canadian, American, Italian, French, and Japanese.
Need I say more ??
