The Thrift Store Italian Pt3 Finito

Found in a Thrift Store for $125. Never heard of a Fiorelli, but I recognized the campy components, all indications were the components were original to the bike. Forum members helped narrow the age to the mid-60’s or so. I considered parting it out, but I’m too sentimental. I decided on a sympathetic restoration… no painting, no chroming, no excessive polishing. Only replacing the consumables that were toast, or missing(sew-ups, hoods, adjuster caps, bar tape, Universal brake pad inserts). Since only the pedals were French, I added Paturaud toe clips and Christophe straps. The paint came alive as did the bright-work, the only real issue is a small ding in the top tube.

Components as found…
-Steel Magistroni crank, Stamped “Fiorelli”.
-Alloy Magistroni Chainwheels.
-Ambrosio alloy “Champion” bars and stem, w/Fiorelli stem bolt.
-Universal Mod. 61 brakes & levers, with age-hardened Universal brake pads.
-Early Campagnolo Record Front Derailleur.
-Early Campagnolo Record Rear Derailleur (smooth steel jockey wheels w/ball bearings).
-Regina Gran Sport-Corse Freewheel.
-Early Campagnolo High-Flange “No Record”-Record Hubs.
-Campagnolo Straight-Arm Quick Release, with pointed ends.
-Stella Stainless Steel spokes.
-Fiamme Red label tubular rims.
-Lyotard Berthet MB-23 pedals.
-“GLR” saddle with a Fiorelli label on the rear.
-Pirelli Yellow label, with a Red “Media” label.
-Other Campy items: Dropouts, Shifters, Headset, Seat Post, Pump bracket, Cable guides/clamps.

Like the pic as found in thrift shop. Great job on refurbish. Paint and bright bits really pop. Cheers, Kevin

Great Find!
I'd love to see close-up photos of the fork crown and the seat tube embellishments.

I have a friend who has one and really enjoys it for casual rides. He bought from a local bike shop owner who had raced it in the early 80's.
Nice find, second hand stores are fun.
