monstercross (gravel with mtb base)
What do you guys thinks about monstercross bike types?

It is fine way to go but why not go to Gravel bike sub-forum? The mountain bike sub-forum is increasingly less about mountain bikes and mountain biking.
I love wider tire clearance and turning some of these old bikes into gravel and touring bikes though.

My original gravel frame is a Black Mountain MonsterCross.
It worked great for gravel riding. It's currently set up with a front rack and basket and is what I use to ride to work and it's been great for that too.
For a short while, I had 50mm tires on it and a single speed drivetrain and used it on river bottom single track when my kids wanted to ride in the woods...it was great then as well.
It's pretty neutral/adaptive geometry, but it would fail big time if I were to actually use it on some advanced MTB trails because it isn't designed for that.
Really just depends on the specific bike geometry whether it's a good pick or not for double duty.

So, I pulled the handlebar from my hardtail to convert my gravel bike to flatbar. Now instead of putting a new flat bar back on I'm contemplating the idea of throwing a drop bar on the hardtail just for fun 🤔🤔
