First call- CCRT Season Opener
Time once again to start riding in New England! Now in it's second decade, this ride is C&V themed but open to all. April 15th (Saturday), starts at the W Dennis trailhead of the Cape Cod Rail Trail (exit 78A off RT 6) at 10 AM.
44-48 miles on a nice paved MUP laid over an old railbed. Had some new faces in the fall along with the usual suspects, hope to see the same.

Bump and, yes, I’m planning to be there. Less than a month away now and early spring continues to creep towards us. Fingers crossed. Hoping for another hub and spoke that includes the Farmington Heritage and the East Bay.

Sharon and I are planning to be there. It's been a tough busy winter and we have done precious little riding but we have tried to stay in shape.

Hoping to be there. The leg is still sore but should be able to at least as far as last year. Only issue and it is a big one is what time I get out of work Saturday morning. If I'm not there by 9:45 then don't wait, see everyone come fall.

Hey Prowler, Where do you camp for this ride? I'll probably just get an early start and drive from home but thinking about doing a road ride around Falmouth on Sunday.

Different place each year since MA started gouging out of state people on State Park camping fees. This year I’m staying a bit west of New Bedford, MA. Only and hour to our trailhead start point and closer to home on Sunday. Sunday’s plan is unknown at this point given the forecast. Was going to ride the East Bay trail out of Indian Point but…….

First report!
We had a great ride! Great weather, smooth sailing, well, actually smooth biking. It came out to about 45 miles because we stopped at Bob's Pizza for lunch and then rode over to Marconi Station instead of to our traditional turnaround point at the road to Lecount Hollow Beach. The side run to Marconi Station is a bit longer and much more interesting. (Thanks to Top for the suggestion. We had gone that way once before but it was a long time ago.)
Okay, so you want proof. The day start poorly with a recalcitrant camera. I couldn't get the timer to work on my phone. So you have to suffer two pics from the start:
And another with me while my sweetie took the pic:
The first stop is always at Nickerson State Park.
You wanna' see interesting vintage bikes? Try these!
Who let this one in??
Of course our tandem.
Of course Frog always has the vintagest bike, this time a nice Columbia sporting Dura-Ace components!

Frog's Columbia:
Of course we had lunch at Bob's Pizza. And did I mention that we had lunch?
Top wins the Coolest Jersey award.
Of course stopped at the Harwich Rotary on the return. All of us had so much energy we really didn't want to stop, but it was required, you know.
Surprisingly, at the end of the day we had the same number of riders and bikes as we had at the start. How did that happen??
We had no flat tires this time, and almost suffered the ignominy of no mechanical problem. Then six or seven miles from the end Frog's handlebar came loose in the stem and saved us all from embarrassment. Fortunately he was able to fix it with no trouble and we made it back to the trailhead safely. It was a GREAT ride!

I too had a grand time on the CCRT. I missed the memo about lunch at Bob’s greeezzzy spoon so blasted on up to the top of the trial and had my lunch waiting for either the others to show up or for Jim to text me. He did. I scooted on up to the new top of the trail just to see it then rolled on back and reconnected. A very fine day.
As usual I book ended the day with rides. Friday I explored the Farmington Canal trail from the Yale campus to a point about 15 miles north. A hot day! My first ride in shorts in 6 months. Sweated a lot and drained two 20oz bottles. Today I stopped at India Point and rode the East Bay Bike Trial. Cool, damp and overcast but still way better than the best day I ever had at the office. Even better than driving south on I95 towards NYC on a Sunday afternoon. UGH!!!!! But the glow from having ridden over 100 miles this weekend sure helped me survive that.

Scott! Good to see your posting! The Mirella is Top's. (How could it belong to anyone else?) We will be looking forward to your presence in the fall. The ride will almost certainly be on Sunday of that weekend (Columbus day?). It is (ahem) rather a long way into the future, iznit? Yes, we had a great ride!
