the DX5000 is cool bike that does not get a lot of love. speaking of love and a Dx5000-

A friend of the co-op at school brought a co-worker in as she wanted a higher stem for her bike. turns out it was a DX5000 with mostly 600 on it. I happen to have a Nitto high rise, and swapped for her Cinelli. (which I used on my Look i think). But she was telling me that a friend of hers had built the bike for her, and as I looked over the build I asked: what, was he in Love with you or something?
At which she blushed and said.. I think he was.

so its sort of fun, and sort of sad- as she was coming to us to fix the stem, not him!

I think I got you beat. I can't differentiate some names. Stephanie and Jennifer. Pete and Jerry. Michael and Robert. Unfortunately the list goes on. If I ever meet you and suddenly call you some other name now you know why. IDK they're just interchangeable to me. I once revealed this to my son's thinking they felt they same uh... they didnt.

I was gonna update a pic of Carbon Ironman. It's not much different other than adding aero bars and raising saddle height. However I'm thinking of returning it back to regular road bars. Mostly because I'm trying not to ride it til January 1st but, with the aero bars I'm so tempted to ride it. I explained to my wife how my red white steel classic is such a perfect fit that I'm using it for the remaining rides of 2018 in order to get so used to it that when I ride my Carbon Ironman I'll be able to immediately feel the difference and therefore make any changes need to feel just like the classic. Not only did she understand, most importantly she didn't Care. Then told me "just ride the one you want, you got five". But, but I only have four which means ... I can get away with one more!

well, after two weeks of scouring ebay and craigslist etc for a fork to fit the carbon IM, I just went to Nashbar and they had a 41% fork sale, and then 22% promotion sale + free shipping, so I got one of their forks for just under $80! - cheaper than people are trying to sell them used on ebay.

the issue was that head tube was just so long, I really need at least 255mm if its threadless, and 1" size, not too trashed, not too ugly, not shipping from china, etc etc. Nashbar to the rescue!

so now that I have ordered a fork (soon to be fork brothers with robbie), and i got a saddle from the sales section here: the most difficult question of all: what color housing? The bar is going black, because I already have black tape in hand and why not- its a black and silver bike.

but the housing: Do I go stealth with black, accent the aluminum with silver, dull it down a bit with grey, or make a statement with pink or white? It looks like it had white on it before, as I am having to scrape off white marks from where the housing would have run.

My Carbon look from the same era has grey, and it matches the grey lugs and shimano tricolor, as well as the grey/black of the CF. its a very conservative but classy style. for this bike it needs to be a tad different... maybe braided titanium? Just go weird and go blue?
the top tube guides are VERY prominent, centurion really built this bike strong and you coudl hang the bike from the guides and have no worries- so whatever color will show prominently. I am sort of tending toward black... as I am sort of boring that way. but you know, black tube below connected with silver to smaller black tube above.

Match the saddle to the bar tape and the tires to black or match the bar tape to the color of the frame at the top of the head tube and the saddle to the color of the frame at the top of the seat tube and the tires to the part where they come the closest to the frame or match the saddle and the cables to the decals...... ahem

I have seen that Tange#1 has a 175 lb weight limit. Has anyone had a problem with the Ironman frames breaking after being rode by a heavier rider? I am close to that limit now and would like to not skip pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. I would also like for my son to try out mine but he is quite a bit heavier than I am. I don't know for sure but he is probably at least 250.

Never crossed my mind there would be a weight limit. But I'm pretty sure members on this thread or BF period rarely fall under 175 lb. I read a little and someone posted prestige has a 150 lb weight limit, bahaha.
Although some people (strong mashers) like RT and canklecat can make the Tange 1 flex. I can't make mine flex unless I put it on a trainer which BTW almost any frame will flex if you do that which is why a lot of Carbon fiber manufacturers have warnings against using their bikes on a trainer.
To the point of breaking a Tange frame due to a perceived weight limit, I personally have not witnessed it and never would have thought it.
I'll ride on and never give it a second thought. I'm currently at my winter weight 185 seeking 175 by spring so I can get down to 165 for racing season ... hey it could happen.

I fluctuate between 200 and 210lbs. I haven't had a problem yet with any tube set. Tange, Reynolds or Columbus.

I built a Tange 1 Semi Pro for an alleged friend, with the stipulation he'd sell it back when and if he bought a carbon bike. On it, he dropped from about 250 to about 200. I found him a carbon bike, at his request, and he then kept the Semi Pro and gave it to a guy who weighed 285, and he rode it. This with 28h Campy Eurus wheels. The 285-lb guy lost about 100 lbs, bought a Kestrel, and the "friend" still wouldn't sell me the bike back.

So I think it will handle it. Wheels would be the issue, I'd think, stay away from low spoke counts. I've never seen any weight warnings on Tange 1, but I don't pay attention to much of anything. I just kind of stumble along. I've weighed as much as 200 and as low as 165 and ridden Ironman bikes the entire time.
