Jack Markell Trail Wilmington, Delaware commute

Good evening all! I just started taking the new Jack Markell trail home from work and was wondering if anyone else in Delaware has used or is using the trail for commuting. Also wondering if the trail is open in the mornings around 6am?

For me, it seems the JAM would go out of the way to New Castle/Battery Park when I'm trying to go from North Wilmington to Newark. It looks like it could be worth the detour in some ways, if I had all the time in the world.
