I knocked the dust off my Mark V last night for first time in over 8 months (pulled hammie and my motorcycle got all my ). Just pumped up the tires and rode out for over 12 miles. Oh how I miss her.
I havent been on BF in over a year, is it just me or are flat bars all the rage now? They sure look purdy but I can't imagine trying to do my commute route with them. I need to change my drops out, but I'm going with bullhorns as those are what were one the triathlon training cycle I was on last year.
PS - When did Tony step up with a new website? Damn it looks nice.

I'm 5'10" with an in-seam of 31.5"
The TT of my 53cm steamroller is 54.7cm and seems slightly longer than I would like. The SO with the steamroller is 30.7 and is perfect.
I am looking at the Mark V Pro - what size should I get? I am thinking the 53 is about right. The SO on the 53 Mark V Pro is 30" and the TT is 54cm, but on the 56cm frame, the SO is 31" and the TT is 55.5cm.
Most people here seem to go with one size larger for IRO frames, but the 56 seems a bit too large.
suggestions?

after more carefully remeasuring my inseam, I'm actually 31"...
I think the SO of the 56cm (31") would be too high. also, the TT of my steamroller at 54.7 (with a 90 stem) seems too large. That's why I think the 53cm would be a better fit with its 54cm TT.
hmm

At first I was looking at the smaller frame but according to the forums and the FAQ on IRO's site, the 56cm is the frame I need. I'm at 5'10.

Random question:
Does anyone know if IRO frames are chased, faced or otherwise prepped before being sent out?
I guess I'm wondering if they do it with just a frame purchase, versus a complete build.
I wasn't sure if it was standard procedure to do this or not...

Here's my MArk V IRO ~2005. w/Roadie friendly bar set up-I like riding the hoods. Thinking about upgrading frame to Mark V Pro.

I almost went with the 56cm, but Im glad that I didnt, Im sure it would be too big for me. It seems to me that a 53 should fit you fine. I had the luxury of trying a fully built version of each size at a bike store in Oakland, Ca.

Thanks dude. Just recently put the straps on them too, those things took forever. And as for the seat, I was wondering the same. I'm going to call them about it tomorrow.

The reflection is coming from some 3M tape I picked up from ebay. The tape on the wheels is silver; the tape on the bike is black. Without the flash you cannot tell the tape is there.
The bike is basically stock, with the exception of:
Nitto Noodle Bars
Nitto Pearl Stem
Tektro Brake Levers and Hoods
Thomson setback seatpost
Currently a Specialized Alias saddle. I just couldn't get the B17 to be comfortable with the 4-5" saddle to bar drop. The saddle is still a work in progress.
EDIT: After looking at this picture, I realize it looks like I have about three feet of seatpost hanging out. This is misleading; at most there is about 7-8" exposed.

take a shot of that bike with a tripod and no flash if you have one. id like to see how that tape looks when its not all lit up.
